Trump to reveal immigration, tax policy plans next month
Washington Post ^ | 08/15/2015 | By Robert Costa

Donald Trump will unveil a series of position papers in early September, he said in an interview Friday, beginning with a plan to address immigration policy that was crafted with the counsel of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), a favorite of conservative activists and an outspoken border hawk. That document will be followed soon after by his proposal for revamping the U.S. tax code.

“My immigration paper, my tax paper — they’re pretty much done. But I don’t want to do them in August. I’ll wait until September, when everyone is back, in all fairness,” Trump told The Washington Post. “We’ll release a number of them. We’ll start with immigration and then we’ll do tax. Those will be the first two.”

The reveal of these parts of his agenda will coincide with the run-up to the second Republican presidential debate, Trump said. That forum, set for Sept. 16, will be hosted by CNN and Salem Radio at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

Trump’s consultation with Sessions, which came in a mid-July phone call, is the latest sign that the celebrity billionaire will continue to take a hard-line stance on immigration, which has rallied many conservatives this summer to his campaign.

Sessions, who is closely aligned with the tea-party wing of the GOP and is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on immigration, has argued that lowering legal immigration levels will improve employment prospects for low-wage U.S. workers. He also for years led efforts to increase fencing and barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border.

“I like him,” Trump said of Sessions. “Tough guy. I like that. We have a similar thought process.”

I believe Trump has already presented his tax plan, I wonder if anything will change.... but based on what he has articulated in the past, here it is:

4 brackets; 1-5-10-15%; kill death tax & corporate tax

My 5-part tax plan involves reforming the income tax. The government confiscates way too much of your paycheck. The tax code is also a very complicated system that forces Americans to waste 6.1 billion hours a year trying to figure it out.

What does that tell you? It tells me that it’s time we restore simplicity & sanity to the income tax. Here’s my income tax plan:

Up to $30,000, you pay 1%

From $30,000 to $100,000, you pay 5%

From $100,000 to $1 million, you pay 10%

On $1 million or above, you pay 15%

No other special deductions which will complicate the code.

It’s clear and fair. Best of all, it can be filled out on the back of a postcard and will save Americans big bucks on accountants and massive amounts of time wasted attempting to decipher the tax code.

Our country is hungry for real tax reform. That’s why we should implement the 1-5-10-15 income tax plan. And we need to enact [the rest of] my 5-part tax policy: kill the death tax; lower the tax on capital gains & dividends; eliminate corporate taxes; and a 20% import tax.

If he listens to Jeff Sessions, we’re good.

The MSM (including Fox) will continue to claim that he hasn’t presented any policy plans. But, Obama’s plan, which consisted of nothing more than “hope and change” was touted as a brilliant and detailed set of specific plans.

Although I would prefer the Fair Tax, I think Trump's tax plan is the best I'm seeing from current candidates. I like the fact that no one would be immune from taxes -- you made $20,000? Pay your bill. I also like a top bracket of 15% -- it's not a tithe but it's not far off.

I'm hoping that his detailed plan will include estimates as to the money that will be raised. Will it be revenue neutral? Bring in more? Bring in less? I have to believe that Trump has done the work to have evidence for one outcome or another. Let people see.

Between consulting sessions and getting ready to "refine" his plans to be able to enunciate it, he continues to move in a smart direction.

That said - GO CRUZ!!!

But will he have the balls to abolish the IRS and send those gdamn traitors to jail?

Doubtful, but revising the code is a start I guess.

The IRS cannot be abolished, someone has to collect the taxes.

It can be significantly downsized though and its intrusive enforcement unit abolished or converted to immigration enforcement.

Trump

“My attitude is, I’m a closer,” Trump said before heading to his plane. “Jack Nicklaus, he was a great closer. He didn’t fold under pressure. I won’t. People are calling me, telling me they’ve never seen anything like this in their lives.”

If nothing else this sure is fun to watch….maybe the media will wake up to what is going on…has one heard anything from Salena Zito…she is the best on this

Hopefully, Trump will adopt the suggestions of Jeff Sessions, with whom he recently met to discuss the issue. If he does, Trump will decimate the field.

Geesh -Social Media is hated and never used personally, but do miss the ‘like’ button they have. Only wish other sites would have the same. To many of those comments above, consider a dozen ‘likes’ in regard to your comment. OK, I voted more than once -but for the moment that is allowed. :)
