What everyone with a Top Secret security clearance knows – or should know
Reuters ^ | 8/3/15 | Peter van Buren

In the world of handling America’s secrets, words – classified, secure, retroactive – have special meanings. I held a Top Secret clearance at the State Department for 24 years and was regularly trained in protecting information as part of that privilege. Here is what some of those words mean in the context of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails.

The Inspectors General for the State Department and the intelligence community issued a statement saying Clinton’s personal email system contained classified information. This information, they said, “should never have been transmitted via an unclassified personal system.” The same statement voiced concern that a thumb drive held by Clinton’s lawyer also contains this same secret data. Another report claims the U.S. intelligence community is bracing for the possibility that Clinton’s private email account contains multiple instances of classified information, with some data originating at the CIA and NSA.

A Clinton spokesperson responded that “Any released emails deemed classified by the administration have been done so after the fact, and not at the time they were transmitted.” Clinton claims unequivocally her email contained no classified information, and that no message carried any security marking, such as Confidential or Top Secret.

The key issue in play with Clinton is that it is a violation of national security to maintain classified information on an unclassified system.

Every bit of correspondence from the sitting Secy. of State must be considered Top Secret until it has been properly vetted. Her excuses are as lame as Billy Jeff’s used to be. Jail time should be the result.

Serious question.

Could Barack Hussein Obama could a security clearance?
___

If you’re asking if 0bama could pass a proper background check to receive a security clearance then the answer is a definitive “NO”.

Unfortunately he sits on the top so Obama can declassify anything at anytime. Classifications are established by EOs.

“Could Barack Hussein Obama could a security clearance?”

If he was an ordinary citizen, the answer should be no, simply because he lies. I held security clearances for many years while working for different companies. Critical to a clearance is honesty. While I have never used illegal drugs of any kind, my understanding was that when the question was asked, in writing or in person, just answer truthfully, no matter how embarrassing. They really didn’t care if someone had a misspent youth (current use would be an issue) - but if someone lied (whether it was about drugs or anything), that was the end of their clearance.

Could Barack Hussein Obama hold a security clearance?

no.

why? because Barack Hussein Obama is not the legal name for anyone in the United States.

if you mean the current _resident, then you're asking if barry soetoro could hold a clearance. with his history and contacts... i doubt he could pass a proper background screen

I held a TS clearance in my four years in the AF 66-70. There are features of the system of classification that even now I would not discuss. I worked for AFSA which comes under NSA. I took an oath and I maintain it.

Aside from being a retired Jumpmaster, Army Sys Admin, and Department of State Information Management Specialist during the Clinton Sec State stint (also there for Colin Powell and Condi Rice)... I have also been an IG Investigations and Assistance NCOIC, so:

The Chief Information Officer and the head of Diplomatic Security should face jail time. The Office of Diplomatic Security oversees all IT Security, per the Foreign Service Manual and Foreign Service publications.

What Hillary Clinton did having an Email server is illegal.

All diplomatic computer systems on the what the rest of governments knows as Unclassified is Sensitive but Unclassified and is considered an offense to simply forward any communications or information to an outside or non-government computer, unless approved by the Information Systems Security Officer or the Regional Security Officer. SBU is considered a higher classification that Unclassified.

A private server with any type of state department message or email traffic is illegal for any purpose.

All Stated Department SBU or higher network data is dual encrypted. Once it leaves a State Department Network it is no longer protected.

I believe Hillary utilized this server to transfer illegally State Department communications to foreign powers and business associates in foreign countries. Why else would so money transit her Charity Organization at the same time certain actions were required for approval at State?

Hillary and her inner circle should all face jail time. They are no different than Snowden or that nasty transgender private in Leavenworth... They have committed treason.

In short, possession of classified material, deemed classified or not, it is the holder’s responsibility to recognize the material’s significance and protect it. Possession is not only prosecutable, but must be prosecuted.

Hillary’s magic wand will be working overtime ...

Obama couldn't pass the drug test.

Will we ever know how much marijuana and other drugs he used in the WH?

As a former TS/SCI/SI type, anything government related is required to be processed on a gov server/system. To use private comms while serving in a public position is just asking for indictment of “what are you trying to hide”?

She ain’t the queen, never will be.

What everyone with more than half a brain in their heads knows - or should know: someone in the position of Secretary of State is for certain at one time or another, and probably practically every day, going to be receiving and generating classified government information - and this can’t be transmitted over a private, unsecured email system....
