“I think hes set on the border, on the GOP elites, and on the proper tone to take into battle.”
Unless he comes out with some outlandish liberal position, and I can’t see him doing it, that is enough for a vote, for me. I think you can add in trade talks. Not to mention that he won’t be critical of the United States.
The GOPe is logical if you consider that the want the same thing as the Dems. The two party idea is all smoke and mirrors. We can’t fight the Democrats until we destroy the GOPe.
thanks for your comments - but I must admit I do not see the relevance of the menstruation comment (non comment) or of Erick’s status SOLELY as a talk show host to this discussion. I don’t disagree with you on either, but that was not relevant to the discussion I was having.
Erickson, like Beck, has a media company and production company above and beyond the 5X week talk segment. It would be too narrow to measure their impact solely as a talk host.
I agree, your post is an astute one. That was an implicit assumption on my part that you fleshed out. That’s why Cruz and Carson are playing it smart. If he flames out they will benefit, if he doesn’t conservatives like them (Palin as well, she’s clearly doing the same) will have a huge seat at the table.
Except that he’s threatening talk show hosts. That’s the relevance.
Either way, I think the GOP as we know it is done after this election. The anger/rage at the GOPe and candidate picking is just too great. With Romney, there was not a viable alternative. Now there is-—many-—and ANY not named Bush can beat Hillary.
Well first, the 5/95 is up from 0/100 a few weeks ago. Second, the man has a lot of liberal reflexes in him. He just does. STILL. And at some point, this total philosophical - well not total, but significant disconnect between what he believes and his supporters thinks he believes will unravel much of his support.
Now as to the 5 up from zero? I've begun to realize that many people hate the GOP e more than they love limited government (not a Trump virtue) and the Constitution (is Trump aware of this document?). Maybe that 5 will go up again.
But he’s not threatening talk host merely as another talk host....I’ve no idea what he said on his talk show, but I know what he said AT HIS EVENT and on HIS WEBSITE. That he even does a local talk show is not even a factor here IMO.
Notice the piece does not mention a word about EE’s talk show. That was not an accident.
And he’s not threatening really anyway, he’s throwing down a marker. Time will tell whether he’s right in whole, part or not at all. We should respect people who take a stand, agree or not. This is risky gutsy move.
Good luck getting on his show, Erick.
Normally I would discount this as wishful thinking, but I place stock in what you have to say. You're a smart fellow.
I pray you are correct, because the GOP today is a second Democrat Party.
“Erickson doubling down on his dumb decision to disinvite Trump”
It’s simply a PR campaign, not to be taken any more seriously than that.
I agree, the GOP e is forever weakened IMO. Now how weak? Time will tell, but I think we’ve crossed a (much needed) rubicon.
Me too. The technology solution is to block the domain in your emailer. PM me and I will walk you through it.
I think Trump and Cruz are playing some very smart chess, while EE is playing checkers.
Trump is drawing the fire and saying what needs to be said, and doing it Trump-style well. Cruz is pacing his campaign and staying steady and visible, Cruzing at precisely the level he needs to be.
And I think this is a planned, cooperative campaign from both of them and being executed by both of them.
I can’t imagine Trump operating within the restrictions of the office of the President.
But, hey, I am optimistic. It might take one more cycle, but the damage the elites have done to themselves is obvious in the campaigns of Fiorina, Cruz, Carson, and Trump. It's no secret why two or three of those four are at the top of every poll and why Jeb is struggling to get into the top four anywhere.
” ... since when are conservatives obliged to conform to, or even tolerate, the utterances of some self appointed commissariat?”
EE fashions himself as a kingmaker in the Republican party, but he has a thin skin and takes any deviation from his opinions very personally. Now he is trying to set the boundaries for “acceptable” viewpoints on conservative talk radio. Good luck with that.
Hoping and praying you are right.
oh yes, I agree 100% with your disclaimer and was aware you made it...
