Women who get pregnant from rape or incest should be able to go to the emergency room for an "abortion pill," Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said Thursday.
Speaking on Fox News Channel’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” the anchor asked Carson if he believes women should be able to get abortions in cases of rape or incest.
“I would hope that they would very quickly avail themselves of the emergency room, and in the emergency room, they have the ability to administer RU-486 and other possibilities before you have a developing fetus,” Carson said, more than five minutes into the interview.
RU-486 has been dubbed a “chemical abortion pill” by some anti-abortion groups. The National Right to Life website describes it as a pill used at five to seven weeks of pregnancy “that kills an unborn baby whose heart has already begun to beat.”
The anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List is also opposed to it.
“RU-486 is an abortifacient,” a representative for the group said. “It’s only prescribed use is a chemical abortion. Susan B. Anthony List is solidly opposed to the use of RU-486.”
Carson’s response provoked Cavuto to ask him whether he believes life begins at conception.
“Certainly once the heart starts beating, certainly at that point,” Carson responded.
An email to the Carson campaign for clarification has not been returned.
Carson is a retired neurosurgeon. His views on abortion grabbed headlines on Thursday after a former colleague wrote a blog post claiming that in 1992 he studied parts of a fetal brain produced from an abortion.
Carson has been critical of Planned Parenthood after a string of undercover videos showed officials selling fetal tissue for scientific research.

Are you for permitting the abortion of babies conceived in rape?
The pill he’s talking about isn’t just a morning after pill, it terminates a pregnancy well into it.
Also yeah, you wouldn’t have your cute little kid, if you were to have had a wife that gobbled up a murder pill of either brand.
Ben Carson is pro-abortion, as long as it’s not a hoover related death of the baby it would appear.
Ben’s just not ready for prime time. That will become more obvious if the candidates are ever asked substantive questions at the debates.
I’d like to introduce you to a pill that has been used to cause abortions that NEVER makes the news. Any local health department that does medical, and any primary doctor can order the pill. It is old enough to be a generic.

My step daughter spent months on bed rest to be able to carry the 2 children she had, both were born premature, 1 weighed a little over 2.5 lbs, the other barley 2 lbs. \
That was 18 yrs ago. The eldest heads off to college this week, the 16 year old just got her driver’s license.
I had 2 C Sections as I could not deliver the over large 3rd child, the 4th is an automatic C Section back in the 70’s-80’s.
Their crap just does not hold water.

I’m not sure who “their” refers to in your comment.
I posted about Reagan’s view in one of his books. He explained why he allowed exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother.
So... if you are addressing my Reagan comment, are you arguing from your step-daughter’s or your own experience being of being raped, abused or endangered?
Or are you just making a general thread comment?

And the use of morning after pill as soon as possible after a rape destroys any argument for the rape exception.
That's what I thought you said: Let's kill babies conceived in rape, to make the issue of killing babies after rape go away.
Let's kill all people who reach the age of 65, to destroy any argument for euthanasia.

Three things would happen if rape victims took the morning after pill ASAP after a rape
1. Nothing. Woman was not fertile at time of rape (most common).
2. Inhibition of fertilization if ovulated egg were available.
3. Inhibition of implantation of fertilized egg.
Only the third is what you are referring to.
On the other hand, the excuse for a rape exception which is used to justify surgical abortions at much later stages of development, well past viability and in the stages where pain can be felt, would be no longer valid.
those who push abortions, general comment from personal experience. I could have added in my DIL due to the RH Factor she had a hard time carrying my only grandson, be sure both Parents are blood typed.
You are still advocating killing people, for the purpose of making an “issue” go away.
Removing an “issue” from a political campaign is not a valid reason for murdering people.
