Ted Nugent storms Kid Rock stage

Kid Rock, he noted, had just kicked off a record-breaking string of 10 sold-out shows at Detroit’s DTE Energy Music Theater.

While the crowd of 15,000 was expecting Rock’s hits, including “Cowboy” and “Born Free,” they weren’t expecting the “Motor City Madman” himself.

“Just as Rock was launching into the intro of ‘Cat Scratch Fever,’ Nugent stormed the stage and demonstrated why he was named Detroit’s Greatest Guitar Player of All Time by readers of MLive,” his website reported.

The resulting jam was “an indelible moment for Detroit fans.”

Hmmmm. Time to choose. Uncle Ted storming the stage or a bunch of disruptive bureau of land management types (#blm). I choose.............................Uncle Ted.

Had the privilege of doing Strangle Hold with a buddy last night at a jam session at a local establishment. He carried the heavy stuff though. Not Ted but we did a credible job. :>}

Favorite song off Double Live Gonzo, with Great White Buffalo a close second.

Nuge's best work IMO - Great White Buffalo and Working Hard Playing Hard live with Derek St Holmes. (warning, some typical Nuge F'bombs)

Being from right outside Roscommon, I should say that is his best work outside of Nuge's tribute to Grayling's own Fred Bear.

Stranglehold and Hey Baby are a few of my favs. Go Ted! My dad used to have a pair of Altec/Lansing concert speakers that were about 3ft wide and 4 ft tall. Huge tweeter on top and 12 or 14 inch base on the bottom.

They were about 10 ft apart and we used to sit in front of them and play this stuff full blast! I’m surprised I can still hear.

What? LOL! Some days my tinitus is really aggravating. Like right now. But, there’s another jam session at one of the casino pools tonight so, gotta go play. :>} (Should have been 15” or 18” speakers on the bottom. I think.)

Probably. I just know they were big and loud! We played Van Halen, Frampton, ELO, etc... Lots of rock!

Deaf in left ear (almost).

70’s vintage 100W Marshall head, Peavy double stack cabinet back in the day.

Got an old Mesa Boogie Mark III head and cabinet as well that my old band mates christened PSH... for “Pure Screaming Hell”. Ran my old American Strat with DiMarzios through it.

“Stranglehold” was our opening tune in one band, back in the day, followed “Just What The Doctor Ordered”.

The Nuge was in KC last summer. Was a religious experience for sure. Obama was staying just a couple blocks from the Midland Theater where Nugent was performing. His commentary was worth the price of admission! Ted Nugent for President!

I was at a garage sale a few weeks ago and came upon A 1968 Fred Bear Bearcat bow, made in Grayling.

I’m not much of an archer, but heck yea I bought it.

I met him in 1978..................

Late 60's was at a buddy's backyard one early evening and his older brothers were playing downstairs. We slid over to the hopper window to watch. I recognized his 17 and 18 yo brothers, but the guy wailing on the guitar was unknown to me. I asked: "Who's that guy?" He said: I dunno, some guy named Ted Nugent. Never clicked until some years later when Tooth, Fang and Claw came out and I said: "Well, I'll be damned...."
