(PPP) Trump Leads Republicans in Missouri
Public Policy Polling ^ | 8/12 | LS

Posted on 08/12/2015 5:24:57 AM PDT by LS

PPP's new Missouri poll provides more evidence that Donald Trump emerged from the first debate at least momentarily unscathed. He leads the Republican field in the state with 23% to 11% each for Jeb Bush and Ben Carson, 10% for Mike Huckabee, 9% for Ted Cruz, 8% for Scott Walker, 7% for Carly Fiorina, 6% for Marco Rubio, and 4% each for John Kasich and Rand Paul. That makes for a very clean top ten in Missouri because everyone else is at 1% or less- Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum all get 1%, George Pataki is at less than 1%, and Jim Gilmore and Lindsey Graham have literally no supporters.

What really stands out in the numbers is how broad Trump's support is- he leads with moderates (25%), 'somewhat liberal' voters (23%), and 'very conservative' voters (20%) alike. He is a lot stronger with men (30%) but he leads with women too at 16%. He's particularly strong with young voters (32%) but also leads with middle aged voters (21%) and seniors (17%). Every group we track he has the lead with on this poll.

I see your point, but its hard for me to imagine that number when none of them speak up. But I guess time will tell. If I just saw even the occasional post in support of Bush on ANY forum, not just Free Republic, I would accept those numbers without a second thought.

But I see no support and hear no support. Its crickets.

Those that have bought, paid for, and progammed their politicians don’t talk about it in our circles. Think about how they all came forward when threatened....like to steal that election for Cochran, to keep Murkowski in the Senate, to get reps to support Boehner when called to do so, to vote for ObamaCare, etc, etc... Somebody owns them. It’s that small percentage of the party, and it’s sick that they control the process.

The only polls we should be looking are those that show how each candidate would do in a matchup against The Bitch.

Yes, I agree. But aren’t we talking about the super-rich here? How can there be enough of them to bring REAL poll numbers to 10%? That’s what I have a hard time understanding, and leads me to suggest that these numbers are skewed. Do these rich donors have the connections and inclination to skew numbers? Absolutely. But are there actually 10% of Joe Blow Americans on the ground supporting Bush? That is what I have a hard time getting my head around.

If I met a few of them that would help. Have you met any? Not insiders, just people on the street.

You probably only watch the 15 second sound bites that are always on TV so you think all Trump has is 15 second ideas. In fact that sham debate only allowed short sound bites with off-issue questions.

I suggest You Tube Trump if you want more depth. He has a number of speeches and interviews there that are as in depth as any other candidate if not more.

However if you just want to keep posting slams on Trump carry on.

It's been a long time since I rock and rolled,

It's been a long time since I did the Stroll.

Ooh, let me get back, let me get back,

Let me get back, baby, where I come from.

Woooah...hoooah...

It's been a long time, been a long time,

Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.

Yes it has.

Yeah, when I manned the phones for Romney (Ann would’ve been a great first lady) that office was loaded with people who are the party elite who benefit from construction contracts and other faves from Republicans in power. They’d say stupid stuff like Mrs. McCain is an intelligent person. They couldn’t give one reason based on anything but their benefit and their country-club like type connections about why they’re Repbulican.

How much of that support is because, right or IMHO, very likely wrong, they consider Trump the easiest Republican to beat?
Certainly there were Republicans who initially thought that a black with a muslim name would be easy to beat.

Not to mention the fact that the Democrats never really figured out that Ronald Reagan was an electoral tough cookie until he had stomped them into the dirt in 2 CA elections and 2 national elections.

IMHO if Trump had responded to the “war on women” meme question by announcing that
The audience - in the auditorium and via TV - already knew that none of the candidates onstage were without blemish.

The audience was equally certain that Hillary Clinton has already gotten away with scandals and violations - starting with Servergate and stretching in an unbroken line back to Whitewater - worse than anything all ten of the Republican candidates then onstage put together were ever accused of.

And the audience knew that the country has been going to hell in a hand basket not only throughout the Obama years, and not only suffered cultural decline during the Clinton years, but things hadn’t gone perfectly under the Bush years either.

He could have asserted that Republicans could count on him not to go into the fetal position the first time he was hit with a stupid question. And, if Megyn Kelly persisted at all, he could have shouted, “You’re Fired,” walked offstage into the spin room, and solemnly assured the reporters there that he had just said everything that needed to be said. And that his ratings were headed nowhere but up.

And the sound of the audience would have meant that nobody really doubted that he was right.

Tax plan is pretty good, far better than the “FAIR” tax, and the only one with a chance of working.

His tax plan eliminates business taxes, capital gains taxes, inheritance taxes, and takes personal income taxes to extremely low levels. We can all agree on the need to cut taxes but at the same time Trump is talking about increasing spending on defense and veterans and not touching Social Security or Medicare. At the end of the day there is a $4.8 trillion dollar budget to balance, because Trump has also said he'd do that, and no identified cuts in government spending to make up for the loss in revenue, much less cover the current deficit. His tax plan is a half the equation, the other half is non-existent.

ISIS (bomb the oil fields) exactly what the Brits did to the French Navy in WW II. Solid concept.

No, his plan is to send in troops to beat ISIS, once he's found his Patton, and occupy the oil fields. Once that is done he will pump the oil, sell it, and use the proceeds to pay for the war and the occupation. So let's see...invade and occupy...where have we heard that before?

His book is pretty full of solid stuff. You just don’t want to admit it.

His book is full of sound-bites.

Is there anybody out there supporting Bush? Speak up! I want to know you exist!

Let me be perfectly clear, I do not support Bush. Anybody who openly supported the liberal Bush on this forum, would be asking for the zot.

You’re not exactly looking in the right place to find jebito supporters. You’ll find more pataki and gilmore supporters here.

we’ve been forced to rotate the role of token jebito supporter here at FR. I was it last week. Yo quiero jebito! and all that rot. I don’t know who is supposed to be the token jebito supporter this week.
