The number of people not in the labor force reached another record high in July, according to new jobs data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The BLS reports that 93,770,000 people (16 and older) were neither employed last month nor had made specific efforts to find work in the prior four weeks.

What jobs are 93 million Americans gonna find? We ain’t got em. Now imagine adding 20 million illegals to that when amnesty is given. And mot of them can’t speak English and will bringing another 20 million over in the next 10 years.

318 million people in the US...accounting for all those under age 18 and over age 65 leaves ~200,000,000 based on last census figures give an approximate 46% figure out of the work force.
I have always wondered that.
Figure 10% severe mental retardation, mental illness, and profound physical handicaps.
Still leaves a lot of people.
includes not only unemployed, but college students (not working), stay-at-home spouses, and retirees (a significant and rapidly growing bunch)
46% is not far off from Mitt Romney’s 47% number, actually. Make what comparisions between the 2 different metrics you may... but I can easily see a correlation myself.
