Rhode Island mandates HPV vaccine for seventh-graders

Seventh-graders in all public and private schools in Rhode Island are now required to get the HPV vaccine.

Starting this fall, seventh-graders who do not get the vaccine will not be allowed to attend school unless their parents seek an exemption for medical or religious reasons, the Providence Journal reported Tuesday.

Tricia Washburn, chief of the office of immunization for the Rhode Island Department of Health, said the Centers for Disease Control found no safety concerns with the vaccine.

"The bottom line is that HPV is the most sexually transmitted disease in the U.S." she said. "We are interested in protecting the public health. We feel it shouldn't be treated any differently than any of the other vaccines recommended by the CDC."

The school vaccinated my daughter with Hep-B without my knowledge or consent.

I only found out about it when she complained about pain in her arm the next day. The site had gotten infected.

Had they told me, I would’ve informed them that she has an immunodeficiency and any break in the skin needs attention.

Of course that *was* in her records at the school. The same records that they did NOT consult before giving her a jab.

A year later, Perry pulled the HPV BS and I was one of the parents losing my freaking mind.

People who weren’t there don’t know what a horrible uproar this caused.

Good for you! You may have helped save a lot of young girls from the known bad reactions to an unnecessary and ill advised vaccine. If the child is sexually active, maybe then the parent or guardian should consider it. It’s not the right of the state to give our children a vaccine that is only needed for those children engaged in sexual activity. What next? Will the state require birth control pills for all our young girls in case they might get pregnant.

“The “slut shot” is being promoted on the premise that every girl is going to be “sexually active” with multiple partners. How about promoting virginity and chastity?”

I absolutely believe this should be a personal choice, not a mandate. But with respect to whether the vaccine is a good idea or not, it’s not that cut and dried. Consider the woman who remains a virgin until she marries, and never has sex outside of her marriage. And then consider what happens when she later finds out that her husband has been cheating on her and exposed her to any number of things, including HPV.

Good enough reason not to vote for Perry. He doesn’t even realized he’s a socialist, mandating that the state knows better than the parent.

And when he was finally indicted, it was 7 years late and politically motivated.

If her husband is cheating on her, HPV may be the least of her worries. There are plenty of other sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS.

The Hep-B jab is kinda nasty anyway. I had the first 2 shots when I was in EMT school because of the possibility of accidental occupational exposure, but reacted so badly each time I didn’t get the final one. They didn’t give me any serious guff when I declined, other than offering it each time I returned to the doc after that.

It wasn’t absolutely mandatory, but was highly recommended which made sense...no matter how careful you are, accidents can happen in that line of work.

That said...I was a consenting, informed adult who both chose to begin the series, and chose not to finish it. Pressuring a kid into it is wrong on so many levels it’s not even funny, and requiring it even more so!

I am well aware. And if there were vaccines for HIV or other things of that ilk, I think they would be worth considering as well.

“I think they would be worth considering as well.”

Not for a seventh grader without parental permission. In some states, a child can get an abortion without parental permission. I’ve often wondered what would happen, if the child accidently died while getting one of these state sanctioned abortions.

That’s just it, it’s about money not safety. The death rate from the shot is higher than that of the cancer they seek to prevent. Only that cancer is years into the future.

Case Report of a Gardasil Death Confirms Presence of HPV DNA Fragments

Earlier this year, a lab scientist, who discovered HPV DNA fragments in the blood of a teenage girl who died after receiving the Gardasil vaccine, published a case report in the peer reviewed journal Advances in Bioscience and Biotechnology5. The otherwise healthy girl died in her sleep six months after receiving her third and final dose of the HPV vaccine. A full autopsy revealed no cause of death.

Sin Hang Lee with the Milford Molecular Laboratory in Connecticut confirmed the presence of HPV-16 L1 gene DNA in the girl’s postmortem blood and spleen tissue. These DNA fragments are also found in the vaccine. The fragments were protected from degradation by binding firmly to the particulate aluminum adjuvant used in the vaccine.

“The significance of these HPV DNA fragments of a vaccine origin found in post-mortem materials is not clear and warrants further investigation,” he wrote.

Lee suggests the presence of HPV DNA fragments of vaccine origin might offer a plausible explanation for the high immunogenicity of Gardasil, meaning that the vaccine has the ability to provoke an exaggerated immune response. He points out that the rate of anaphylaxis in girls receiving Gardasil is far higher than normal—reportedly five to 20 times higher than any other school-based vaccination program!

HPV Vaccine Is Associated with Serious Health Risks, Including Sudden Death

Many women are not aware that the HPV vaccine Gardasil might actually increase your risk of cervical cancer. Initially, that information came straight from Merck and was presented to the FDA prior to approval6. According to Merck’s own research, if you have been exposed to HPV strains 16 or 18 prior to receipt of Gardasil vaccine, you could increase your risk of precancerous lesions, or worse, by 44.6 percent.

Other health problems associated with Gardasil vaccine include immune-based inflammatory neurodegenerative disorders, suggesting that something is causing the immune system to overreact in a detrimental way—sometimes fatally.
•Between June 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008, there were 12,424 reported adverse events following Gardasil vaccination, including 32 deaths. The girls, who were on average 18 years old, died within two to 405 days after their last Gardasil injection
•Between May 2009 and September 2010, 16 additional deaths after Gardasil vaccination were reported. For that timeframe, there were also 789 reports of “serious” Gardasil adverse reactions, including 213 cases of permanent disability and 25 diagnosed cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome
•Between September 1, 2010 and September 15, 2011, another 26 deaths were reported following HPV vaccination
•As of May 13, 2013, VAERS had received 29,686 reports of adverse events following HPV vaccinations, including 136 reports of death,7, as well as 922 reports of disability, and 550 life-threatening adverse events

Lawsuit Reveals Payouts of Nearly $6 Million to HPV Vaccine-Damaged Victims

On February 28, 2013 the government watchdog group Judicial Watch announced it had filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to obtain records from the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) related to the HPV vaccine8. The lawsuit was filed in order to force the DHHS to comply with an earlier FOIA request, filed in November 2012, which had been ignored. As reported by WND.com9:

“Judicial Watch wants all records relating to the VICP, any documented injuries or deaths associated with HPV vaccines and all records of compensation paid to the claimants following injury or death allegedly associated with the HPV vaccines... The number of successful claims made under the VICP to victims of HPV will provide further information about any dangers of the vaccine, including the number of well-substantiated cases of adverse reactions.”

On March 20, Judicial Watch announced it had received the FOIA documents from the DDHS, which revealed that the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program has awarded $5,877,710 to 49 victims for harm resulting from the HPV vaccine. According to the press release10: “On March 12, 2013, The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of HHS, provided Judicial Watch with documents revealing the following information:

•Only 49 of the 200 claims filed have been compensated for injury or death caused from the (HPV) vaccine. Of the 49 compensated claims, 47 were for injury caused from the (HPV) vaccine. The additional 2 claims were for death caused due to the vaccine.
•92 (nearly half) of the total 200 claims filed are still pending. Of those pending claims, 87 of the claims against the (HPV) vaccine were filed for injury. The remaining 5 claims were filed for death.
•59 claims have been dismissed outright by VICP. The alleged victims were not compensated for their claims against the HPV vaccine. Of the claims dismissed, 57 were for injuries, 2 were for deaths allegedly caused by the HPV vaccine.
•The amount awarded to the 49 claims compensated totaled 5,877,710.87 dollars. This amounts to approximately $120,000 per claim.

This new information from the government shows that the serious safety concerns about the use of Gardasil have been well-founded,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Public health officials should stop pushing Gardasil on children.”

Review of HPV Vaccine Trials Conclude Effectiveness Is Still Unproven

I agree with you there. The first part of my comment was, “I absolutely believe this should be a personal choice, not a mandate.”

Is hpv contracted in any manner other than sexual activity?

Why not just bombard every 12 year old girl with gamma radiation, nipping any potential malignancy in the bud? Might obviate all those menses-related inconveniences as well. Cancer of radiological etiology obviously won’t be a problem during her brief ensuing lifespan.

How is HPV contracted?
Where did you get this 50% number, because cervical cancer rarely affects anyone under 20?
How many strains of HPV does vaccine provide protection against?
I am sorry that you have endured cervical cancer, but the HPV vaccine is not the answer.

Unacceptable. Requirements like this should only be put in place for highly contagious diseases. For those, I support them, but this is BS.

I’m sorry for your suffering, if anyone wants to get this vaccine for their child, that’s fine by me. I made sure my kid got the vaccine against menengitis (sp?!?) before she went to college and also a tetnus shot after a bike accident.

The ER doctor didn’t want to give her the tetnus shot but I insisted.

This is a state mandated vaccine that does not pertain to the general public health and should be resisted.

“I’ve often wondered what would happen, if the child accidently died while getting one of these state sanctioned abortions.”

Wonder no more, the abortionists gets sued. Big time. And they pay.

I remember an egregious case from NYC itself, years ago. A very young teenager (15, 14?) died due to an abortion (not Becky Bell whose unfortunate death the pro-aborts seized on with her parents mindless consent). Her parents, who of course had no notice that their minor daugter was out and about putting herself under general anesthesia without their knowledge did sue and they did get paid.

But, as you already know, it got pretty much no news coverage.

I’m sorry I forget that gal’s name, I seem to recall she was Spanish or maybe Italian. Rose, Rosa, maybe it was de Rosa as a last name, something like that.

Perhaps Morgana or NYER or another Freeper remembers better that I do.

Gardasil comes with some other nasty side effects. Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) and auto-immune destruction of ovaries by Tween-80/Polysorbate-80 used as adjuvant. One of my co-workers reported that her daughter was diagnosed with PoTS. It has totally screwed up her life. She was an active cheerleader. Months later I ran into an article connecting Gardasil with PoTS. I sent it to her. Her reply: PoTS happened following the 2nd Gardasil shot.
