Donald Trump: I promise to be nice at the GOP debate

Donald Trump has made a name for himself on the campaign trail for sharp invective and brash hyperbole.

But when he takes the debate stage next week, he has promised to play nice with his fellow Republican 2016 presidential candidates.

“I look forward to the debate on Thursday night & it is certainly my intention to be very nice & highly respectful of the other candidates,” the billionaire real estate mogul tweeted Thursday.

In the meantime, the final few spots are still up for grabs and other candidates are scrambling to make headlines to gain enough ground to take the stage.

This falls under the "believe it when I see it" category. Because you know some of the other candidates are going to try and get a rise out of him. Trump usually takes the bait.

At first I thought Trump was just doing another of his stunts.

But then it occurred to me. Why would a man with so much money, fame and power give it up, and face all the arrows that come with campaigning, where everything you have ever done in your life is going to be scrutinized soup to nuts?

POTUS is a step down for him if anything.

I believe it is because he loves this country so much and sees where it’s headed.

You can argue about his stances on the issues, but I have no doubt as to his motivation for running.

We don't need nice. We've had nice, and nice translates to cowardly politicians. We need a street brawler. We desperately need a conservative president and a conservative Congress who want to slug it out with liberal trash currently running the country.

Thus far all we've had are career politicians with no spine and no balls who have sold us down the liberal sewer.

But that's just me.

Sounds about right to me.

When you turn 69 (next month) like Trump, you begin to think of legacy.

He has been wildly successful in life— this is about preserving America for his family and by extension, for all of us.

For America’s sake, let’s hope he is wildly successful once again.

What Trump needs to do is articulate his plan to make America great again. He’s got a a plan. I’m not sure the other’s have one.

One of the moderators will be Meghan Kelly, the one who "broke" the story of his supposed "violation" of his wife during their divorce 30 years ago.

You mean Smug Smarmy "I'm so cool" little Meghan? And the rest of the faux news GOPe team?

He’s got a a plan.

So did John Kerry, or at least he said that he had one :)

Trump has made most of his plan apparent. At least to those who understand what he is saying.

Funny. I lived on NYC. I know the Big Apple accent. Trump has very little of it, to MY ear. He is very well educated...U. Penn and Wharton. And he is also very well spoken. He'll stand out from the rest of the heard. I wouldn't mind seeing a Trump-Cruz Tag Team. 😊

it was phenomenal!

Saw it.
3/4 of our “republican” “representatives” should have half as much fight. The US would be a lot less dysfunctional.

Yes, Newt WAS masterful in the 2012 debates. He had me and many others on our feet, screaming, “Yes! Yes! Brilliant!”

Now a question. Why didn’t Newt go on to become the Republican candidate?

And the little snot couldn’t restrain herself; she “broke” the story HOURS after Ivana had clearly stated that it never was true, and that she and Donald are best of friends.

It seems that once she bested BOR in the ratings for a few weeks, she threw professionalism to the winds and went Nat. Inquirer on us! So from now on, IF I watch her show, it will be with a jaundiced eye and a skeptical mindset.

Why didn’t Newt go on to become the Republican candidate?

Because he didn’t push over his podium and say, “you are all a pathetic joke” and then walk off stage?
Shock therapy?
Otherwise, i wish we would STOP playing by THEIR rules!

If someone really cared about the USC, or the American way of life, they would be seriously pissed at what is going on.
There are obvious fixes but they require someone who will stand fast and not play the game.
Tell the people you are pissed and why.
Our phony representatives, our lying pathological pResident, and the fake news media are not playing by the rules so how can anyone get a intellectually honest, and unbiased, debate?

Thank You!

I cannot stand to watch her at all anymore. In the beginning I thought it would it might be a substantive replacement for the copyist Hannity. As you say she showed her true colors soon enough.

He will until, as in the debate protocol, someone takes a potshot at him. Then, it’s “Katy bar the door”!
