The WhiteHouse.gov petition calling for the extradition of Walter Palmer, the Minnesota dentist who recently admitted to killing Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe, has surpassed 100,000 signatures, meaning the White House will have to respond to the petition.

“We urge the Secretary Of State John Kerry and the Attorney General Loretta Lynch to fully cooperate with the Zimbabwe authorities and to extradite Walter Palmer promptly at the Zimbabwe government's request,” the petition reads.

To be extradited, you must first be charged with a crime. I wonder if any of the petition signers knew - or cared about - that.

These people really make me sick. I see them on the wolf threads on FB all the time. They are ill with adoration and worship of wolves and lions...and nature.

Yeah...such a petition (if legal), just MIGHT steer the public from the Iran deal, and/or Planned Parenthood....for a minute.

We need to extradite some of the Xacto blade rangers who are killing, butchering, and selling babies.

I believe he was stupid enough to trust his guide about the legality of it. If that is proved to be wrong, he should face charges. You don’t go into another country and coax their favorite lion out of his reserve so that you can kill it. I think what he knew and when he knew it is relevant.

Yes the killing and selling of baby parts is worse. But that does not mean this should be ignored. If the guy really did not know, then the fault is with the guide. I could see charging the dentist a large fine. If, however, he is lying and he did know, he should face the charges and punishment established by the country he was visiting.

Yes, let’s extradite someone who did something legal.

There’s a lot of legal activities I dislike. Extradition is not an option.

An African Lion is more important to them than an American man.

Everyone who signed that petition should be dumped on the tarmac in Zimbabwe, naked and penniless.

Maybe the doctor could volunteer to do free dental work in memory of Cecil the Lion.

If the fault is with the guide, why should the dentist pay a fine?

Right you are. But there is evidently a US law that says you can't bring an illegally obtained animal part (a trophy head in this case) into the country.

So I'm guessing that Zimbabwe will leave Palmer alone, but the US will stick a charge on him.

This guy needs to learn a F’n lesson. This is not the first time he has lured an animal illegally to it’s death.

Palmer Has Bear-Related Felony Record....

Following the incident, court documents emerged showing Palmer was fined $3,000 and given a year’s probation after pleading guilty over the illegal killing of a black bear in Wisconsin in 2006.

He was also convicted in Minnesota court in 2003 for fishing without a license.

He thinks he’s above the law.

Because there is a loss to the country — an injured party — caused by the dentist whether he meant to or not. If you accidentally injure someone’s property, even if you do not know it is their property, you are liable. If you buy someone’s property and it turns out to be stolen, you are liable to return the property. At the level of financial liability, not knowing is not an excuse.

If you harm someone’s property or take it on purposes, you are guilty of a crime such as vandalism or theft. If you do not know, you still have financial liability.

Yep. Palmer is either stupid, or an actual criminal. The lion was evidently lured out of the preserve by use of an animal carcass. If Palmer knew that, he is obviously a criminal. if not, IMHO he's just stupid

It is worth noting that Palmer was convicted previously in the US for shooting a bear on protected property, then lying about it.
