Wright: Trump’s Doing Great Work — But Does He Understand the 2008 Economic Crash?
Breitbart ^ | 7/29/2015 | C. Edmund Wright

As someone who’s criticized the Republican establishment and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) since 1992, and slammed Karl Rove and George W. Bush since 2001, I cannot be more thrilled with what Donald Trump has brought to the national conversation.

He has done what no one else could – present company included – for these topics and others. These discussions are all more in the news than ever, and we are all better off for it. It’s fun to watch, and it’s important to our national debate.

Having said that, Mr. Trump made some comments on MSNBC and in Iowa in the past few days that indicate he is perhaps unclear about the causes of the 2008 economic crash. However you want to reconstruct the meltdown, the economic problems were clearly set in motion by several decades of liberal policies on lending, housing, mortgages, energy exploration and refining, and more recently, crony and esoteric derivatives on Wall Street.

You can LOVE the conversations Trump has started and how he has poked Mitch and the gOpE in the eye ... and still not want him as the conservative candidate for POTUS.

“Does He Understand the 2008 Economic Crash?”

Why wouldn’t he?

Bush did more damage to the GOP than Trump could ever do.

Bush finished with one of the lowest approval numbers in history.

27% to be exact. Yep. That is 27%.

And that gave us Obama...Thanks Bush.

He didn’t lose any money in 2008. He increased his fortune to 10 billion dollars.

Didn’t Trump graduate from Wharton?

Maybe a better question is does McCain understand aerodynamics?

I blame Bush only to the extent that he didn’t use his veto power to kill really stupid economic policies/legislation. For reasons I simply don’t understand, he, and the GOP in general, only gave lip service to fighting the liberal agenda...a behavior that’s still in place today. While I think Harry Reid is probably the dumbest person on the planet, the GOP let him run roughshod over them. By contrast, McConnell and Boehner have no spine for fighting for us conservatives. Both should be tarred and feathered and banished to the Democrat party where they belong.

Hey, don’t ask if he knows aerodynamics. Doncha remember??? He’s a hero...a big big hero. You aren’t allowed to question him about anything.

it was in fact precisely the Democrats who ‘DONE THAT.

Yes. Barney Frank (and one long-gone senator) forced the banks to make loans to those who could never pay them back and the system crashed as a result. The mutual funds had a bigger role to play. That is where the real fraud occurred. The real guilty parties have never gone to jail as they should, and the taxpayers were left holding the bag by both parties and the fed itself. It was the most CORRUPT thing ever done to America.

Neither Bush #42 or #43 did a good job of reining in the voracious federal government. That’s why we definitely do not need Bush #45.

"You can LOVE the conversations Trump has started"

That's the only reason I semi support Trump at this moment. His past statements suggest he is not a real conservative. He certainly doesn't understand the financial meltdown created by the Dems (under Clinton) and mostly fostered by them. Plus, there's his strong support of the Kelo SC decision.

That depends on how well one understands Jaime Gorelick, Franklin Raines and James Johnson and the collusion and diversion of their activities provided by Barnie Frank and Maxine Waters.

“Trump even went so far on Morning Joe to exonerate all Democrats by specifically saying “when the economy crashed so horribly under George Bush, because of mistakes they (Republicans) made…with banking and a lot of other things… I don’t think the Democrats would have done that.”

I don’t for one minute believe that Trump is terminally obtuse. When Trump is in front of a liberal audience, he blames Republicans, and when speaking to Republicans, he blames Dems. I have traced this enough to know it to hold true.

One of your best efforts here, by the way.

Late 2004 ... Excerpts from a hearing to investigate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's illegal book cooking ... IT WAS BARNEY'S FAULT!

The Democrats created the way to crash the mortgage market.

No he didn’t, so why would you think he doesn’t understand the ‘crash’?

He’s who I want as President when this next crash comes, to keep America from crashing...I just hope it doesn’t happen while obuma is in office, we’ll have NOTHING left....so there won’t be a need to worry about who’s going to where and when....

The video linked at post#15 ... from 2004 ... is quite damning and illuminating about whose fault it really was.

p.s. are you suggesting algore and J F'ing Kerry would have been better choices?

I recall Treasurer Paulson going to the foolish Bush to push a crony bank bailout called TARP that I’m not so certain was necessary for a coming mild recession that should not have lasted more than couple of quarters. In comes Commie Obama who makes a small and mild recession last for years that lingers to this day. And moreover, DUmb McCain suspending his campaign to go to DC in support of it.
