Why Trust Trump?
American Thinker ^ | 07/29/2015 | Bruce Walker

As conservatives prepare to support a Republican for the 2016 presidential race, a large number seem convinced that Donald Trump is their best choice. Why? He is certainly mouthing the right things on many issues, particularly immigration, but does Trump really believe what he is saying? Surely that is the key.

Consider his history. Trump has given money to Hillary Clinton, to Chuck Schumer, to Harry Reid, and to the whole rogue’s gallery of dreadful leftists who are ruining America. He can have only two explanations for helping these corrupt Democrats.

First, he was so dumb and ignorant about what Hillary or Harry represented that he had no idea that helping them would ruin America. Millions of conservatives grasped the wickedness and deceitfulness of these leftists decades ago. When did Donald learn that they were bad? Why was he so much slower and stupider than the rest of us?

Second, Trump may have simply been buying influence in Washington with money. If that is so, then why in the world would conservatives give him a second glance as a presidential candidate? Buying influence in Washington is precisely what we are fighting. Even if Trump were padding his bets by giving money to both sides, he is as bad as or even worse than any run-of-the-mill Washington politician.

Consider his flip-flopping on abortion and on gay marriage. His position on socially conservative issues sure seems to follow what Trump needs to be popular. Has Trump even articulated a serious critic of Abortionism or gay marriage? He may, in fact, have changed his position on those issues, but the reasons why look like political expediency.

Most of us, who can see the truth, do NOT trust Trump.

Why trust Jeb Bush? Why trust Chris Christie? Why trust Lindsey Graham, and on and on and on.....

Is this question because of his trustworthiness being somehow markedly different than those I mentioned? Or is it just because he’s that “maverick” apparent front runner and messing up some RINO’s baileywick?

Pick your poison. Either trust Trump, who has changed his mind on things. Or trust ANY of the other candidates who have done the same.

What's the difference? No other canddiate has been willing to combat the left, the media, and other candidates in a way Trump is doing.

Trust? I don't trust a single damn one of them.

I trust one candidate in the race...

His name is Cruz.

I don’t trust Trump because of HIS views...nothing else. He can talk the game all he wants too, but that doesn’t mean he believes it.

Silly premise.

BTW Trump hasn't attacked Ted Cruz.

RE: Pick your poison. Either trust Trump, who has changed his mind on things.

OK, given that we cannot trust the Jeb’s, the Chris Christie’s and Lindsay Graham’s of the world..

But we have 16 candidates for President.

Why insist only on Trump and ignore some of the others?

Right, but there are some I trust more than others...

Cruz being at the top. Lee as well.

I think there are some good people in DC...otherwise, what is the point?

Well, if Trump wins he will be an elected official, and then what does that make him?

Could Trump be any worse than the others (with the exception of Cruz)?

I trust Trump to at least try to secure our southern border and remove a sizeable number of illegal immigrates and that frankly is all I care about right now.

Trump is and has always been a useful idiot.

Sometimes for the Democrats. Sometimes for the Repubs.

Right now, he is our boy. He’s speaking what conservatives want to hear. So let him.

We all would do well to notice how Ted Cruz is responding to Trump. Let Huck, Jeb, Christie and the other wanna-be’s get their knickers in a knot over Trump. But Ted is quietly, efficiently and effectively leaving Trump to mouth off, and when Donald flames out - Ted will stand alone. Not having to get into a flame war with Trump, and not having any of the Trump negatives stuck on him either.

RE: Could Trump be any worse than the others (with the exception of Cruz)?

Based on the description of his background in the above article, I’d say he is little different from the others ( (with the possible exception of Cruz or maybe Walker).

Exactly! You don't have to like the guy, you don't even have to trust him, but right now, he is very useful.

Cruz is my guy, too. Said so here many times before. I’ve also said for me Trump is performing a valuable service. You can take your cue on how to read Trump by looking at Cruz’s response to Trump. Does it look to you like Cruz thinks Trump is a problem?
