Burns, who helped Bush design the current detente with Iran, is a strong proponent of the nonproliferation deal.

No mention of when he was a George H W Bush official or when he was a Bill Clinton official though.

So, George W. Bush was the last guy to hire him, and they worked together on Iran policy.

Huh?

George Bush rejected Cheney’s advice to bomb Iran. You didn’t know that? It still rankles Cheney.

"Current detente" connotes a formal diplomatic arrangement. As such, it suggested that there was already in place such an arrangement, designed by GWB -- which there is not. Or the reference was to the current agreement "negotiated" by John Effin' Kerry, but designed by GWB rather than BHO.

Sloppy, imprecise writing, if you ask me.

“Current detente” connotes a formal diplomatic arrangement.

Or a decision not to go to war — a decision that George Bush arrived at in 2006 or 2007.

Yep. 2006/2007. That was when Iran had to be hit. Now they are just pissing in wind waiting for the mushroom clouds. Either over Iran or the US and Europe or all three.
