Why Are the Unions in the Abortion Business? [Trumka Comments on Planned Parenthood]
Red State ^ | July 25, 2015 | LaborUnionReport

Posted on 07/26/2015 1:40:48 PM PDT by justiceseeker93

Over the last week, as videos emerged of executives at the abortion factory known as Planned Parenthood allegedly selling aborted baby body parts, Planned Parenthood has, rightfully, come under heavy fire.

Now, however, Planned Parenthood’s allies on the Left are circling the wagons to defend the abortion factory.

For example, rather than investigating the potentially illegal practices of Planned Parenthood, Barack Obama’s new Attorney General, Lorretta Lynch, has announced that she is going to investigate the group that exposed the heinous actions.

In addition to the DOJ investigation, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka has come forward to defend Planned Parenthood.

“Planned Parenthood provides comprehensive healthcare services to women across the country,” Trumka, the head of the 56-union federation stated in a press release. “Calls to defund it based on doctored undercover recordings are politically motivated and wrong. We support its core mission of offering safe healthcare services to women in need."

Why does Trumka of the AFL-CIO support Planned Parenthood? Don't know this for a fact, but the educated guess would be that Planned Parenthood employs a significant number of union workers. So if Planned Parenthood is stripped of government funding, the union treasuries suffer.

Interesting choice of words by Dick Trumka.

The simple answer is that the left doesn’t actually believe in anything except whatever at the moment seems expedient to expanding the power of the state with leftists in control.

They don’t actually believe in workers organizing to get better pay deals from their employers — a union that only did that and didn’t lobby for the expansion of state power (ostensibly for the benefit for workers) would be attacked.

They don’t actually believe in women’s rights — witness the vilification of conservative women by “feminists” and more egregious their silence about the treatment of women by IS or the Iranian regime — women’s rights are just an excuse to expand state power.

They don’t even really believe in unrestrained sexuality, they just want it as a battering ram to use against the strongest non-state social institutions, the family and the church. Abortion is just a tool in this attack, they don’t even really believe in “a woman’s right to chose”, it’s just an excuse to attack non-state institutions. If there ever comes a time when they succeed in having all children be raised by the state rather than their parents, they’ll decide it’s a woman’s duty to bear children for the state.

"Why does Trumka of the AFL-CIO support Planned Parenthood?"

He's part of the unholy alliance that is the Democrat Party.

Trumka probably thinks this is a good source of jobs for the meat cutters union.

They are that sick.

AFL-CIO and the NNU (National Nurses United)are in each others pants.Lots of money there and it all goes to Dems (at least 99%)
While the nurses are getting a national union together ,they use the AFL-CIO as their mouth piece, therefore support for PP.

LOL!!! But does that mean that Planned Parenthood nurses are represented by the NNU? (which would be good reason for the AFL-CIO to come to Planned Parenthood's defense). Also, would you have any idea of the total number of "health care" people employed by Planned Parenthood nationally?

You summed up union leadership rather well.

I worked under union contracts for almost 40 years, 30 plus years of it in the U.A.W. During that time, many of the other union members I knew, could be described as conservative. Pro smaller government, pro 2A, anti tax and spend, pro life, anti “in your face” queers, the whole range of what we consider family/conservatives values, yet they still vote for people like Trumka and wouldn’t even consider voting for a republican.

I gave up on ever fully understanding it, years ago. I did run into a few co workers along the way though who actually did “get it”.

Yeah, union members. I’ve never voted for a democrat in my life and never will..... Although, I may after I’m dead - I live in Illinois.

What healthcare services is this chucklehead talking about?

PP already admitted under oath in Congressional testimony that 91% of their business is abortions. I think the other 9% is sending the moms to the hospital when the bleeding doesn’t stop.

IIRC the crossover vote rate of union members for W was around 40%

Also I can tell you that the building trades members are generally farther to the right than the SEIU types...but yes onfortunately there are also the dies hard commie light types of members too....and they are usually slugs I take great pleasure in laying off.

I ca also tell you from experience that the most racist peolle I have even personally met were white leftist democrat union members who tell black jokes when there arent any blacks around.

I love shutting that crap down with “hey MF’s my wife is black”....she isnt but it sure shuts them up pretty quick....LOL

Really .. is that why the unions are so eager to have all the illegals ..??

Think about it .. your comment makes no sense.

The real reason Planned Parenthood is in business is because women want to have their fun and not have to pay for the consequences of their actions (a pregnancy).

And .. we all know the DemocRATS are famous for not wanting to be responsible for their actions.

After you sell your soul to Satan for temporary Union security, supporting baby harvesting to sell body parts on the open market is easy...

That I don’t know and is a very good question.I don’t know if any PP nurses are members of a union and usually nurses that work in the hospitals are represented by unions.
PP may employee some of these nurses who work at PP as a second job.
As for the number of health care workers in PP,I haven’t a clue.
