Principal commits suicide amid Common Core test scandal [ New York ]

The principal of an innovative West Harlem public school killed herself the day after her students took the state Common Core exams — which were later tossed out because she cheated ...

Jeanene Worrell-Breeden, 49, of Teachers College Community School, jumped in front of a B train in the 135th Street station ...

She was pulled out from under the train and taken to Harlem Hospital, where she died eight days later. The city Medical Examiner’s Office ruled it a suicide.

The leap came at 9:20 a.m., less than 24 hours after her 47 third-graders wrapped up three days sweating over the high-stakes English exam — the first ever given at the fledgling school.

It was also the same day a whistleblower reported the cheating to DOE officials.

...

Worrell-Breeden, who made $135,000 a year, was the founding principal of the school, which the DOE opened in 2011 ..

Worrell-Breeden got the job despite a scandal at her former school, PS 18 in The Bronx. In 2009, the special commissioner of investigation for city schools found she had clocked in for overtime pay while working out with a personal trainer three times a week in the school gym.

Her time card “disappeared” after investigators visited the school. The probe found she altered her time card and coerced subordinates to say she had offered them hundreds of OT hours first — as required — before taking them herself.

A fitting retirement for a modern day public “servant”.

Looks like an Affirmative Action principal playing the game to the hilt. Extra overtime, previous scandal, jimmy test results to look like a comer for the next level promotion, etc, etc. The surprise is that she didn’t try to bold her way through this one.

Well, little Jebbie has been a token GOPe booster for common core.

Obviously this is Bush’s fault.

It does seem like people of color who have hyphenated names are frequently in the news for bad reasons.

Perhaps it reveals an underlying mindset.

So for the next generation- if two people with hyphenated last names get married, does it go to four names?

It took her 8 days to die after being run over by a train?

That had to hurt.

These days, if the whistleblowers were white and the accused were otherwise, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if someone took that tack to brazen it out.

That was quite honorable of her. Most of her ilk would have cried racism and have called Rev. Al for cover and started a riot and burn down the school.

This parasite had a $135,000 dollar salary and yet she still wanted to scam the system for more.

Typical democrat.

She was allowed into a position she had no business being in...

That wasn't a favor... she failed, the students failed, lives were damaged...

The only people who won here were white liberal elites who were so proud of themselves for promoting this woman that they hurt their arms patting themselves on their backs...

I'm not saying white liberal elites are evil...or that they should be arrested and jailed... I'm saying they're blind, insensitive, cruel and they destroy lives ... everywhere...

The victim here, besides the taxpayers... the motorman on the subway train.

That’s a very small school with just 47 kids in a grade.

How does anyone know if those CC answers are correct? It’s so out there. When it takes 14 steps to figure out 2+2, you know the English part is even worse.
