Back in ‘08, after The Won swore to shut down all coal mines, their union’s homepage was nothing but a big ad campaign for him. Mind boggling.

I was stunned with the last presidential election results from the “coal belt” of pennsylvannia, ohio, west virginia, and illinois going to obama.

The top three coal producing states are Wyoming, Kentucky, and West Virginia, and they are top three by a huge margin. Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois are distinctly second-tier.

Wyoming, Kentucky, and West Virginia voted solidly for McCain/Palin.

Wyoming, Kentucky, and West Virginia voted solidly for Romney/Ryan.

Facts.

Get them.

This is they guy who bought several Consol divisions and promptly nixed their retiree benefits. Non-union of course, since the union members were protected from that sort of thing.

And, the LIV still voted for him. I worry about my country, and their IQs. Strike that - I worry about their common sense.

thanx for the “facts”

since you seem quite knowledgeable, let me ask you a couple yes or no questions:

1. are PA, OH, & IL coal producing states?
2. did obama carry three states in his past two elections?

help me out, please.

You want help?

Here ya go:

Weekly Coal Production from the "US Energy Information Administration". The page is somewhat misleadingly titled; in addition to weekly production statistics, you can monthly and annual production, at any granularity you like. I think you'll find the "Annual Production Map" at the bottom of the page interesting.

The Coal Production Database at the US Geological survey has some interesting data going back to the late 1700s. Regrettably, it stops at 1995. Among other things, though it shows the rise and fall of coal production in Pennsylvania, and PA's replacement by WV, KY, and WY as America's major source of coal.

Web searches are your friend, here. Data are available for you; you have only to look. I reject your "simple yes/no" questions as irrelevant and based on a faulty premise: that all coal producing states are equal. They are not. You need to learn where Coal is King, and more importantly where it is not. Then you will be less "stunned" by which states voted for the Kenyan Destroyer and which states voted for Republicans.
