Latino street gangs led by MS-13 have tried to lure Long Island's newest child immigrants into their ranks, police said, causing concern among local investigators as well as immigrant advocacy groups. The violent, drug-dealing gangs have been vying for new members among the more than 3,000 children younger than 18 who resettled in Nassau and Suffolk counties between September 2013 and September 2014, authorities said.
Many of those kids were fleeing violence carried out by MS-13 and other gangs in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala."They were targeted by the Latino gangs that were already established here," Det. Sgt. Mike Marino, head of the Nassau County Police Department's gang section, said of high-school-age immigrants on Long Island. "The gangs did try to recruit some of them."
The recruitment push has met with limited success so far, attracting only a small number of new members, police said.Some gangs recruit kids by befriending them, then pitching the benefits of membership.
Authorities remain troubled by the trend, especially with 14,773 unaccompanied minors having arrived here since Oct. 1, 2014."We've had a few kids tell us they're afraid because they were traumatized by gangs, particularly by MS-13 in El Salvador and Honduras, where it's a strong gang, and have then encountered them here in the United States," said Patrick Young, an immigration attorney who is program director at the Central American Refugee Center in Hempstead and Brentwood. "A lot of kids are kind of surprised that they came here and encountered the same gang, which is smaller than it is where they came from, but still frightening for them."
Localities and school systems throughout the nation are still struggling to absorb the roughly 53,500 children who arrived in the United States last fiscal year.

If they are under the age of 18 and they are here "unaccompanied" (I'm assuming by parents) then they aren't truly immigrants. They are castaways or victims of human smuggling or something. I don't the exact word but they sure as hell aren't immigrants.

Maybe off topic, but this story reminds us again what a terrible problem we have with youth gangs in this country.
The gangs blank up everyplace and everything they come in contact with. Entire neighborhoods are laid waste due to their activities. Yet we unfortunately can’t seem to get a handle on their criminal activities and put enough of them away.

I don't know if our young Christian Conservatives can make enough babies to make up the difference.

Ann Coulter, Jedediah Bila, Dana Perino (although I'm not sure I'd classify her as a Conservative), et al, have all mentioned at one time or another how they don't want or like children.
They are a very serious problem. Like having ISIS operating inside the USA. ISIS is just a giant muslim criminal gang anyway.
But gangs have a lot of supporters. Even here on FR (see how many support the Bandidos, Hells Angels etc). I'm all for paramilitary operations against gangs. What are militias for, eh? Vigilantism against gangs too. In a fair and just society, when gangsters sell drugs to your kids, you get your gun and blow them away.

I’ve heard something similar from some women I know. They are conservative and believe in conservative values, but, don’t see personally any desire for marriage and family.
I’ve had more than one such woman tell me she likes kids, she is a wonderful aunt, she loves her sister’s kids, etc. but would not want the 24/7 responsibility of having her own family.
I’ve heard also that some of the men these women meet are, can we say, low quality men, and these women can’t seriously consider being with such men.
It is well past time for those who are expected to control these gangs be given the freedom to take off the gloves, put all the politically correct bull crap aside and stark kicking butts. The so-called gangs have been allowed to expand their violence nationwide without any significant means of reprisal allowed against them. If it becomes necessary to shoot them down like the dogs they are, so be it. Those punks understand strength and the powers that be have taken that away from our law enforcement people. Its time to take this country back, starting with MS-13 and the rest of those street rats.

I propose ‘sanctuary neighborhoods.’ We could start with all those for sanctuaries. For example, the house next door, across the street, behind, in front of could be sanctuaries for these folks. All ‘politicians’ for the sanctuaries would be targeted next as sanctuary neighborhoods. Perhaps proponents of sanctuaries could help their brothers and sisters with updating their resumes, etc.
