Looking Away From Abortion
New York Times ^ | July 25, 2015 | By Ross Douthat

Posted on 07/26/2015 2:23:40 AM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

IN an essay in his 1976 collection, “Mortal Lessons,” the physician Richard Selzer describes a strange suburban scene. People go outside in the morning in his neighborhood, after the garbage trucks have passed, and find “a foreignness upon the pavement,” a softness underfoot.

Looking down, Selzer first thinks he sees oversize baby birds, then rubber baby dolls, until the realization comes that the street is littered with the tiny, naked, all-too-human bodies of aborted fetuses.

Later, the local hospital director speaks to Selzer, trying to impose order on the grisly scene. It was an accident, of course: The tiny corpses were accidentally “mixed up with the other debris” instead of being incinerated or interred. “It is not an everyday occurrence. Once in a lifetime, he says.”

And Selzer tries to nod along: “Now you see. It is orderly. It is sensible. The world is not mad. This is still a civilized society."

“But just this once, you know it isn’t. You saw, and you know.”

Well the grisly scenes are what result from what the Roe and future courts indulged as (more or less paraphrased) creating one’s own meaning of life. Not even attempting sincerely to discover it, creating it. That is a door to boundless misery.

We aren’t quite yet into openly sacrificing little brother to Baal on the wall to get the devil’s power, but events are inching in that direction.

See, even the New York Times can have a lapse of their normal Leftist outlook?

A costly chicken at $2500... but I would not understand why the price would not swiftly dive as they could be raised like any other chicken.

But in the end, Planned Parenthood’s defenders insist, listening to an abortionist discuss manipulating the “calvarium” (that is, the dying fetus’s skull) so that it emerges research-ready from the womb is fundamentally no different than listening to a doctor discuss heart surgery or organ transplants. It’s unsettling, yes, but just because it’s gross doesn’t prove it’s wrong.

Which is true, but in this case not really true enough. Because real knowledge isn’t purely theoretical; it’s the fruit of experience, recognition, imagination, life itself.

It looks like a tipping point of sentiment might be getting approached. Why here, it makes no more logical sense based on what we know than it made logical sense to throw the doors wide open on abortion in the first place. And the people who took those videos have no real reason to pat themselves on the back; they will have been there at the right time and place for what God ordained.

Perhaps from a spiritual point of view, the recent "gay marriage" decision really was the last straw, and now with political tar and feathers unavailable (thanks to a weak Congress and a bold usurper in the White House) the people finally reach out to spiritual tar and feathers instead. And they find it, but it is Satan, not people, who is going to get the treatment. Perhaps.

Yes, the NYT. I guess they run token opposition articles from time to time. Otherwise they lose focus on what they need to rant about.

Exactly. This is not something new. As long as I have been on FR the occasional NYT article pops up which we find agreeable. Same for other leftist media sources. They are mere drops in an ocean of leftism.

I read some of the comments, but had to quit. The irrational defense of abortion and planned parenthood is disturbing.

(EXCERPT--WND.COM--1999). Then-Pres Clinton is credited w/ opening up the market in fetal body parts. Since Clinton signed the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993, “fetal-tissue research” has expanded into a federally subsidized multi-million dollar industry of selling human spare parts salvaged from abortions.

For example, the NIH budgeted $21 million in fiscal year 1999 for grants and awards for fetal tissue research. At the University of Washington, the NIH subsidizes the central laboratory for human embryology.

According to a lab notice obtained by WorldNetDaily, it “can supply tissue from normal or abnormal embryos and fetuses of desired gestational ages between 40 days to term. Specimens are obtained within minutes of passage, and tissues are aseptically identified, staged, and immediately processed according to the requirements of individual investigators.” The notice is signed by Alan G. Fantel of the department of pediatrics.

At the time, two organizations that profited from this growth industry were (the now defunct) Opening Lines, a business formerly located in West Frankfort, Illinois...... and Anatomic Gift Foundation, headquartered in Laurel, Maryland.

Opening Lines gives credit to President Clinton for opening up the lucrative business in fetal tissue trade.

According to Opening Lines, on January 22, 1993, Clinton lifted the moratorium on federal funding. “This action created a great demand for fetal tissue and has made possible the development of treatments for individuals afflicted with serious diseases and disorders,” says the sales brochure.

Both companies served as wholesalers for the marketing of baby body parts to researchers, drug companies, hospitals and universities. These groups harvest the parts from abortion clinics and ship them to their customers.

Opening Lines provides fetal tissue researchers with a “fee for service schedule,” which gives prices for each body part. For example, Opening Lines charged:

<><> $150 for a spinal column;

<><> $400 for an intact embryonic cadaver;

<><>$75 for 8-week-old baby's eyeballs (40% discount for a single eye);

<><>$150 for two arms or legs; and,

<><> $100 for the skin of a 12-week-old baby.

=================================================

(Mmmmmm.... looks like they "forgot" to post the price of baby skin lampshades.)

The "kind-hearted" Clintons assured us that
abortion would be "safe, legal and rare."

The Clintons "forgot" to mention opening
the gates to the trafficking in baby body parts.

Videos show Planned Parenthood doctors discussing abortions that crush babies skulls are favored in order to harvest intact baby body parts for sale......maybe sell enough fetal tissue to get a Lamborghini.

Baby body parts are a booming business.

Did Bill---the avowed women's rightist---negotiate a cut of the booming baby parts businesses for the "compassionate" do-good Clinton Foundation? Maybe the Clintons got a percentage of PP's condom business, as well.

======================================================

And this.

Planned Parenthood considers it their HIGHEST HONOR:
"The Margaret Sanger Award"---given to Hillary.

=====================================================

The announcement of Hillary's Planned Parenthood award was posted to the tax-paid US Secretary of State website: “Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) will present its highest honor, the PPFA Margaret Sanger Award, to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the PPFA awards gala in Houston, Texas on Friday, March 27, 2009.

Secy Clinton will receive this award for her unwavering support of women’s health and rights throughout her public service career.

Actor America Ferrera will co-host the event with PPFA President Cecile Richards. The awards gala will take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center on 1001 Avenida de las Americas in Houston.”
