They get to keep the money raised and not spent on their campaigns. They are all raising money for themselves.
You are describing a pathology right out of a text book.
Or are they GOP-e suicide moles being pushed only to take out any non-approved frontrunner? Designated troublemakers?
I wanted actual dogs in an actual basement.
Theyre angling for cabinet or other senior positions in a potential Republican Administration. Graham for sure wants to be Secretary of Defense.

No! Col. West for SecDef! ...We really don’t want a liberal JAG in that position.
Really? A pathology? Please tell me more.
He bought everyone else first.
One of the truths of being a leader is that no matter what you do, some people will dislike you and some will like you. Hitler, for example, had his fans. Likewise, some people probably disliked Mother Teresa (maybe they found her prattling on about the poor to be annoying?).
Perhaps the pathology is automatically ignoring the naysayers and believing only the good stuff. We all make mistakes, therefore all leaders are sometimes wrong. Maybe the naysayers are sometimes right.
Then you have the situation where the leader doesn’t even know they’re doing wrong, because no one ever tells them the truth. Believe it or not, I see this all the time. Don’t ask me how a leader can ever learn to do better if they are constantly surrounded by yes men (or women).
We actually have an obligation as Americans to constantly take our leaders to task!
I guess I’m not quite finished with this line of thought.
When I look at someone like Senator McCain, I think he’s a man who clearly doesn’t care what people who oppose him think. He’s not going to change his mind on anything. He’s as much as said he keeps getting reelected, so that proves he’s right. Don’t like what he does? Defeat him (it hasn’t been done, yet). In a certain sense, I almost agree with the logic. He does indeed keep getting reelected.
I think this attitude is common among the elite BTW, and that is why we voters must, must, must force these entrenched politicians—the political aristocracy—out of office. There is zero chance of changing McCain or anyone else like him. They must be defeated.
You more or less answered your own question with your subsequent replies. When narcissism escalates to a series of bad activities and behaviors, it is pathological. In such cases, these sociopaths absorb all the good compliments, and reject any criticism while reasoning that criticism comes from those who are jealous or are simply flawed. Look up the symptoms of NPD - narcistic personality disorder.
McCain is a good example, IMO.
