You people are the “gun nuts” People beyond reason, those who shall suffer no restraints to their petty will. Reasonable rules reasonably enforced. I note that not one person posting in response to my post ever directly answered my question: “Do you want psychotics, drunks and 13 year old’s to carry guns” I’ll even add to it do you really want everyone to carry a Vulcan machine gun on their car?

I have hunted and shot guns since I was 12. We had reasonable restrictions; i.e. ammunition in the glove box and guns in the trunk. We never openly carried in the city and we were better off than people today.

The government that would take the gun from you or me has the power to determine if you fall into the category of those to whom the 2nd Amendment would not apply.

The only way to legally strip someone of their right to bear arms as a citizen would be as a punishment for a crime.

That might leave a lot of people who shouldn’t own guns in a position to get one, but a lot of people shouldn’t be driving cars and they have access to them. More people have been killed by cars than by all the wars we have fought since 1775.

Most gun violence is perpetrated by people who would not qualify to carry a gun either because they have been convicted of violent felonies, or the guns they are using are stolen.

So laws which limit access to guns from law abiding citizens are not only unconstitutional but do not solve the problem that they are intended to address. Instead they put Citizens at risk from predators.

The nature of the weapons available at the time of passage of the 2nd amendment made open carry a near total requirement. Both pistols and rifles were large and cumbersome.

A standard British horse pistol was a bit over a foot long.

When personally carried it had to be hand held or generally shoved in one's belt line. The nature of loading and powdering really made the musket or rifle preferred weapons, and they definitely were open carry.

Okay, I’ll bite:

“Do you want psychotics, drunks and 13 year old’s to carry guns?”

No, only able-bodied and able-minded individuals (as specified by the definition of Militia) should be carrying. Okay?

“I’ll even add to it do you really want everyone to carry a Vulcan machine gun on their car?”

A “Vulcan” is an NFA weapon outlawed by congress in 1934.

So, I would say no to all NFA Illegal weapons such as sawed-off shotguns, hand grenades, vulcans, field artillery pieces, tanks, JDAMs, and Thermo-nuclear war heads. Happy?

Now I have a question for you. You have said what you are against, now tell us, what you are for?

No open carry as eventually if people carry like the “Wild West” we will return to the “Wild West.”....Good Lord, that only happened on TV and in the movies. Get educated.

That is easy: when carrying a gun in the car ammunition in the glove box gun in the trunk; permits reasonably issued to people who must carry money, jewels and be out late at night. Guns kept at home and at place of business inside etc.

Do you really want every psychotic, drunk and 13 year old youth to carry a gun?

No, what I want is to not have to give up some of my liberties, any of the Bill Of Rights, just because there are those that are criminals, not following the law, etc. Our country continues to infringe on the rights of free, law abiding citizens, because of the actions of those who don’t follow the law...including the highest levels of government.

It’s illegal here. I would if I could, but I live in Massachusetts.

Carrying a weapon is a personal choice. Concealed or open? Your choice. My preference is concealed.

So can I assume you open carry? I’ll bet not. In fact I’ll bet 90% of the open carrier crowd on this thread don’t carry at all and don’t open carry for sure.

We had reasonable restrictions; i.e. ammunition in the glove box and guns in the trunk.

That is not a reasonable restriction. Just how are you supposed to defend yourself or your family if you have to open the glove box to get your ammo, get out of your car, go open the trunk, load your weapon, aim and shoot when you are in dire need of instant self defense?

Did the founders require that in order to travel on the roads you needed to have your weapon in a trailer behind your horse and your ammo tucked in the saddlebags?

If there is a gun nut on this thread it is you.

Now get off the thread you big dummy.

People shouldn’t carry more guns than they are physically capable of lifting. For that, they’ll need a wheel barrow, (easier on the old back muscles).
