Senator Ted Cruz Declares Parliamentary War in the Senate

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has tied the Senate in knots into the weekend with his parliamentary maneuvers on a bill funding highway programs. The U.S. Senate is embroiled in a battle between leadership and conservatives that is getting ugly and personal.

Sen. Cruz has offered something called a “Third Degree Amendment.” That means nothing to most people. In plain English – Senator Cruz is digging in to lead the fight against the Senate Republican leadership to end the Export Import Bank and the Third Degree Amendment is his tool to fight.

New fronts in the battle are expected to be opened up on the highway bill this weekend over the issues of repealing Obamacare, Planned Parenthood funding and President Obama’s Iran deal. Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rand Paul (R-KY) are expected to join the fight. The leadership will be using allies in the media to fire away at Cruz and his band of Senate conservatives.

This should be Big News.

“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”

Sigh ...

The media shows who they hate most by erasing them.

Good for him! I still really pissed off at Mconnell for numerous reasons, but #1 on the hit parade was the fact that once the pubbies took control of the senate, he didn’t refer Reid to the ethics committee, for knowingly lying about Romney from the well of the senate, to protect himself from being sued, while slandering Romney.

This guy needs to be in the white house!

The fact that he’s Hispanic is fine...shows you need not be a liberal fool just because you are Hispanic.

A “sound” requires an ear. A noise does not.

, do they just want to keep control of the party or do they actually want to win the general election?

That is a silly question. Republicans do not want to win the Presidency at all. They are happy to be the Designated Opposition that opposes nothing but gets all the corruption perks available. Republican candidates typically crave to win the Nomination for the party honor that symbolizes but shudder at the prospect of being President. Those conservatives who actually want to win the election are regarded as being crazy or retarded or to have some other sort of corrupt motivation and are not nice people and do not want to play the Washington game. They must be resisted at all costs or they could disrupt the money flow into the Republican pockets.

The fact that this is not new behavior for Ted Cruz is important.

As solicitor general of Texas Ted Cruz successfully defended Texas sovereignty, US Sovereignty, and stood by the family of victims of an illegal alien animal and he did it in opposition to both the DC establishment and international establishment. The case was Medellín v. Texas.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medell%C3%ADn_v._Texas

2008 article by Ted Cruz about the case.

http://www.chron.com/opinion/outlook/article/Medellin-v-Texas-A-case-of-more-than-murder-1543234.php

BTW José Ernesto Medellín was executed at 9:57pm on August 5, 2008

It is purely a matter of definition. If a sound is defined as certain vibrations of the air then the falling tree makes a sound. If it is defined as the perception in the brain from vibrations received and transmitted by the ear than the unheard tree fall makes no sound,

Good article. Thanks for posting. After reading it, even I can almost figure out how Cruz and others are using these Senate procedures.

This man already is leading this nation. Standing up and calling the emperor naked is at this point the greatest act of leadership anybody could have taken.

Now we get to see who all hates this nation and Israel. They are the ones who will try to stop him.

Cruz is trying to remain in the headlines by doing much needed housecleaning in the Senate while Trump is sucking all of the air out of the news cycle. There is nothing Ted can do about it until Trump craps out (not likely) or until he is asked by Trump to be #2. There is a good chance there but Trump may go with a strong token like Fiorina or West. That was the reason for their meeting last week - to pledge their mutual loyalty and for Ted to remain on Trump’s short list.

I like Ted’s quote.

“What has that majority done? We came back and passed a trillion-dollar Cromnibus plan, filled with pork and corporate welfare. That was the very first thing we did. Then this Republican majority voted to fund Obamacare, voted to fund President Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty, and then leadership rammed through the confirmation of Loretta Lynch as attorney general. Madam President, which of those decisions would be one iota difference if Harry Reid were still majority leader? Not a one.”

Be warned the Republican Party Freeper groupies will have you in their cross hairs for speaking ill of their beloved Party and it’s Kommisars in the Congress!

This Republican congress will be so hated by 2016 they will be lucky to hold the House. Everything the democrats and the conservative base has predicted about these lowlife scumbags has come true. Sadly they could have been a congress that could have gone down as a great one for the country, but $$$ and power got in the way of that happening.
