>>and the circular "political spectrum" hoax.<<

I rejected all that crap in the 60s.

AHA!

So you confess!

(Not all that stuff was even around in the 60s, maybe Gaia and the poli-sci circle-jerk. The "climate scientists" were still talking about the coming ice-age scare. And "peak oil" was a turn of this century RAT-hoax.)

Actually no, peak oil, (they did not use that term) was predicted then when they claimed we had no more than 60-100 years of oil and 250+ years of coal left.

As to the global warmers, the same academics were them global coolers....in fact they had plans to paint the arctic with black paint to absorb the warmth of the sun and all sorts of crap.

As to Gaia, I never heard about it until it was referenced in a scifi television show.

The circular political spectrum is not a hoax. What some people object to is that they put Hitler on the right side top, and the USSR on the left side top.

Some people contend that hitler was leftist (Conservative American view) and the Europeans believe he was more on the right. All agree he is at or near the top of the chart.

The reason Europeans put him on the right is because of their politics. ours are somewhat unique or at least they were before we started to adopt European socialism.

The fact is, that although the word socialist appears in their moniker, Hitler hated Communists with a vengeance. On the other hand he was a vegetarian which points more to the left in the US only, not in Europe.

He was a good friend of Mussolini, a fascist, and Mussolini also hated communists.

Whether you object to the placement of these historical figures on the charts left or right is not really all that important because we are Americans and have our own political map....so to speak..But you cannot object to how the Europeans see it and the facts.

In my view, from a American perspective, Hitler was a populist and had right leaning and left leaning views. he had to be that way to appeal to the majority. Most of his officer cadre was right leaning with some exceptions. (in my view) The majority of the people however were on the left because they believed that capitalism and democracy had failed them.

But no, the circular nature of ideology is hard to miss. You really have a difficult time assigning a label to those at the top of the circle where they merge. That's why it's a legitimate theory. So one can argue indefinitely about the placement of certain historical groups and figures. To me, I prefer not to engage in something that is fraught with European/American differences of opinion.
