Donald Trump Blames 2008 Financial Crisis on Republicans
YoungConservatives ^ | July 24, 2015 | Michael Cantrell

Posted on 07/24/2015 12:44:27 PM PDT by Jim W N

If you’ve been paying attention the news the last few weeks, you’ve no doubt seen the meteoric rise of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, as the hype train for the real estate mogul shot into light speed after some brutally honest remarks about illegal immigration.

Well, who he just pointed the finger at for the 2008 financial crisis might just hit the emergency brakes and bring this whole thing to a screeching halt.

I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to sit well with a huge portion of his followers, and this may have been the gaffe that shoots down his presidential aspirations.

Then again, maybe it won’t, and folks will just chalk it up to the fact the guy basically has no filter and just says what he thinks.

Do you think this hurts Trump’s chances at nabbing the 2016 nomination?

He said this on MSNBC. He was targeting the democrat audience who believe it to be true and associating it with the Bush name which would include Jeb.

And both parties failed to enforce the immigration laws which also contributed to high unemployment.

There’s an interview Barney Frank did only a few years ago (so after the housing market collapse) with the Boston Globe where he actually acknowleges that the Bush Administration was sending up warning flags but the Dems thought it was just politics, so didn’t take it seriously.

I think ol’ Barn might have been drunk when he admitted that ...

Democrat policies caused the housing bubble and the resulting financial crisis. The GOP deserves blame for failing to reverse those policies while they held the White House and the Congress.

W did spend good bit of time bragging about his “ownership society” and about the increasing percentage of minority home ownership. The seeds of that financial crisis has been sown over twenty or more years and neither party did anything to prevent it, though some individuals tried at a few points.

No, this want hurt Trump because it was a pretty mild criticism.

That’s it in a nutshell Jim.

Even with a clear Congressional majority, neither Bush or Congress addressed the lending fiasco that was about to befall the nation.

There are some among us who think the Left was responsible. Yes, in part they were. They drummed up the whole mess. They went to court and forced lending institutions to make bad loans.

Our side watched. Our side did nothing. Who’s more at fault? We had the misfortune of it all crumbling while our guy was in office. We (Conservatives in general) took the rap for it.

This is another example of how moderate luke warm buckets of horse sweat destroy our cause.

At least they could have the courtesy to correct the press every time they refer to them as Conservatives.

“In it he steps.”

“Education some he needs.”

“My FR home page please visit.”

The Community Reinvestment Act, which at the time had been most recently revised in 1995, was the guiding principle to the then-push for an “ownership” society.

Negative. The most recent revision to the CRA occurred via Bush's Partnership for Prosperity Agreement (with Mexico)

"In June 2004, in an effort to encourage more banks to enter the remittance market and improve access to the U.S. banking system among recent Latin American immigrants, bank regulatory agencies clarified that financial institutions offering low cost international remittance services would receive credit under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).18 Regulated financial institutions are required under the CRA to serve the convenience and credit needs of their entire communities, including low- and moderate-income areas. Most remittance senders to Latin America are low- to moderate-income immigrant wage earners who operate outside the formal banking system."

The only way illegal aliens could participate in the 'formal banking system' was because Bush signed the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001, which contained a provision that modified US banking laws to allow anyone with a Matricula Consular card to open a US bank account, and obtain US credit cards, auto, home and business loans.

Never forget that the Bush clan comes from a long line of Wall Street banksters and it's this constituency they serve.

” ... and bring this whole thing to a screeching halt.”

OK, for those of us who see The Donald as at least useful ... “This whole thing”.

What’s that? This whole `putting the illegal invasion of America on the front burner and holding the feet of every Democrat (and a few Republicans) who support amnesty to the fire,’ that thing?
Making Republicans and young conservatives squirm?

How does the aphorism go? Anyone who isn’t a liberal as a youth is hardhearted, and if s/he didn’t eventually become a conservative—soft-headed.
And this awkward fact again (just because it drives some here crazy): young Ronald Reagan, Democrat.

Wishin’ and hopin’ and prayin’ for Trumpasaurus Rex to die ... it sounds like wishful thinking on young Master Cantrell’s part, doesn’t it?
“Young conservatives”. Is there really such a thing?
Other than Young Republican Hillary Rodham, that is.

And that YC web site is a real throbbing, fruit salad hot mess, isn’t it, with ads jumping out, photos of fat ladies, dogs dating cats ....

"lol. that’s like a 5 year old kid telling Michael Jordan he doesn’t get basketball too well."

Good analogy. I am a Trump supporter specifically because Trump gets the economic picture better than any other candidate or party. Trump seems to be the only one that gets it.

It’s Bush that has caused the mess in the GOP that Donald is trying to clean up.

In the end, we can’t trust any of them.

One guys says his immigration policy has changed, then withing a few minutes confirms it hasn’t.

One guy says I object to the trade bill, then votes for support legislation.

I’ve put my trust in Republican my whole life and look where we are.

It’s to the point I can hardly vote for the top of the ticket most years. It’s been since 1984 that I actually was enthused in my vote for president.
