Trump still leads GOP field, but descent may be beginning

Public Policy Polling's newest national poll finds that Donald Trump is likely facing at least some fallout from his comments about John McCain over the weekend. Nevertheless, he is narrowly leading the national field in the survey that went into the filed on Monday.

Trump gets 19% to 17% for Scott walker, 12% for Jeb Bush, 10% for Ben Carson and Marco Rubio, 8% for Mike Huckabee, 4% each for Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, and Rand Paul, 3% each for Chris Christie and John Kasich, 1% for Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum, and less than 1% each for Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, and George Pataki. ... His favorability rating is back down in the 40s at 48/39.

Although it's not a perfect comparison, the state polls in Virginia (58/32) and North Carolina (55/32) over previous two weeks had found him with numbers in the mid to upper 50's.

“...no proof on Mexico sending illegals to the U.S. - and this has been asked for quite some time now and on and on.”

Would maps, brochures, information, and consular cards, and most of all, a refusal to STOP the illegals be proof enough for you?

Can you cite ANY OTHER candidates who have fine-tuned their issues. Can you cite any issues any other candidates have come up with?

I don’t think we have seen a sliver of the things that Mr. Trump has planned...

He has all of the House of Representatives....

He has all of the Senate...

He has all of Home Land Security...

He has the IRS...

He has the VA Committee...

He has Social Security...

He’s got a long ways to go and I think before next Nov he will have it all done and sewn up for us to look back on how corrupt this government has gotten and the people who have made it that way....

He has just started with McCain, Graham, Perry and Bush....and he has told us how he stands on obamacare, and illegal immigration and the Veterans...

"Trump gets 19%...4% each for Ted Cruz,..."

There's really something wrong with that picture, and it's strange that some have been promoting "Trump/Cruz" (wrong order).

PPP has never been considered credible by anyone except leftist hand-wringers. PPP completely missed the GOP sweeps of state legislatures and governorships.

“Do you think they would get fired if they gave their names?”

It doesn’t make sense for Donald Trump to hire illegals. If there was any proof of this, it would have come out a long time ago. He hires contractors and they hire the construction workers. He said he only uses contractors that have excellent reputation.

Do you really think Donald Trump tells his people to hire illegals to cut cost. This is just a smear campaign.

Cruz lost me on the trade deal, voting for the Corker bill, and saying that he was going to means test Social Security.

Problem is, Hot Air, the New York Post, Red State, Washington Examiner and many other conservative media have been going after Trump.

Those have NO ratings. The big rated fake conservative site is IJReview, which is 100% against Trump, and in fact PRODUCED Caitlyn Graham's slick "destroy my cellphone" video for him. They are ex-McCain staffers, and very liberal. BOYCOTT IJREVIEW

"Public Policy Polling surveyed 1,087 voters na tionally, including 524 Republican primary voters and 496 Democratic primary voters, on July 20th and 21st. The margin of error for the overall survey is +/-3.0%, for the Republicans it’s +/-4.3 %, and for the Democrats it’s +/-4.4%. 80% of participants responded via the phone, while 20% of respondents who did not have landlines conducted the survey over the internet. "

20% of respondents via the internet.

And, with those respondents included, margin of error for GOP portion is +/- 4.4%.

Without them, probably over +/-5%.

I forgot to mention, no method is stated on how they identified “voters”.

Because of the dismal failure of our schools especial in urban areas and big cities to teach up to date vocational education, practically the only labor force available for construction is Hispanic. Whites have a better chance to move to white collar jobs, and blacks are still worrying that grunt labor is demeaning. Before we kick out 12 million illegals, we better be sure that the workers are there to do the things we want done. That includes teaching useful trade skills.

PPP cited in support of conservatives? Where? Who? This is far left radical outfit engaged in psy ops when they poll on Republican/conservative issues.

They cannot be trusted....

Have a friend who retired as major player at one of America’s largest concrete construction firms who says that skills is one part, but working outside is another. He says it’s really hard to find folks who will leave the air conditioning.

I believe part of that is pay. Pay enough for it, and you’ll find them. But not if there’s an illegal work force there willing to do the same work for minimum or less.

I loved it too. BUT.....

I want to know some things.

1. SCOTUS He says he would select people like Thomas, Scalia and Alito. He says Jeb Bush talked his brother into picking Roberts. Excellent.

2. Illegal immigration. We know where he stands. Great!

3. Handling questions from the press. Does so quickly like a Harry Truman and a guy who is impatient from New York. Great!!!!! Loving it!!!!

4. Defense. Seems to be for a strong military. Yes!!!

5. Economy. Nothing obscure here!!!!

6. Abortion. I think he was pro choice and now is pro life. But I don’t know. What I would like to know is what is his opinion of late term abortions and the selling of body parts, and tax supporting this.

7. Obamacare. He wants it repealed. Perfect!!!

IN short, I see him surging. And if he picks a running mate like Allen West, or Carly Fiorina then even better. He can appoint Ted Cruz to the Supreme Court. He can put Marco as SOS. He can put Mitt as head of our Treasury. He can put Duncan Hunter as Sec of Defense. He can put Ann Coulter or Hannity as his press secretary. He can put SArah Palin in charge of Energy dept with the mandate to dismantle it.

“PPP has been cited here at Free Republic in support of conservatives many times in the past, as I Gooled to see just how many times and it was quite alot... “

WERE U PAYING ATTENTION??

Ask any Freeper and PPP is a Democrat leaning pollster. We’ve talked about this repeatedly for the past 6 years, especially during the last general election of 2012.

Reporters for years have started interview questions by saying “Some say.....” I’ve yet to hear anyone being interviewed ask “Who is ‘some’? When you tell me who said it, I’ll respond.”
