Top strategist says GOP is reaping what it sowed with Trump

The top strategist to Senator John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign is calling out the Republican Party for not standing up to Donald Trump when it had the chance.

Steve Schmidt, who ran the day to day operations on McCain’s losing bid to Barack Obama, told “Hardball’s” Chris Matthews that Trump was given a free pass in his consistent questioning of President Obama’s birthplace.

“I said it was despicable then, it was wrong then, it undermined the legitimacy of the duly elected commander-in-chief. It was wrong and Republicans should have repudiated it,” Schmidt said. “We paid a price for it, and to some degree we are reaping what we sowed in a feckless political class that didn’t call it out.”

Sure, Steve. That’s the key takeaway here. The lesson learned is not calling out Trump sooner. You got it, bud.

How does running McCain’s appallingly terrible and inept 2008 campaign qualify anyone to be called a “top strategist”?

Oh yeah, like we should listen to what this loser has to say.

Tough to beat down the truth.

Every damn facet of our country is a mess...

And Obama just runs around with that damn grin on his face...like he's a good guy.

Yep, it’s one thing to say you’ve no interest in Trump’s birther thing...but it’s quite another to use the phrase “duly elected Commander in Chief” in doing so.

Schmidt has a man crush, but being the bald fatty he is, I guess he has to take love anywhere he can get it....

“Trump was given a free pass in his consistent questioning of President Obama’s birthplace.”

Yes...

That's because we have the 1st amendment.
The creeps that want to steal our free speech like the scumbag in Oregon and the tiny dictator Sheldon Whitehouse come up against resistance when they tell us what We the People are allowed to say.

This isn't Soviet Union Mach II...yet.

Its definitely reaping what it sowed but not in the way this dope says. Its reaping years of not taking the enforcement of border security and immigration laws seriously even though its base was screaming for the party to do so.

Donald Trump is the proverbial, “careful what you wish for, it will bite you on the azz” candidate.

And, speaking of proverbial (which I did), there hasn’t yet been a primary and the media has already begun the “wailing and gnashing of teeth” (or, teef as the culture so deems).

“This is opposite the virtues of goodness embodied in men like ... Abraham Lincoln...”

Lincoln ignited a war that cost 750,000 lives. There is no end of the idiots the media will drag out with their panties in a wad over Trump.

“We paid a price for it, and to some degree we are reaping what we sowed in a feckless political class that didn’t call it out.”

I hope this man totally runs McCain's re-election campaign, frankly. Imagine. Not calling out Trump's comments about Obama's birthplace actually cost "them" (the "we" this putz is talking about) - they paid a "price" for that?

What price? Taking back the House in 2012? Taking back the Senate in 2014? The largest Republican victory in modern history? That "price?"

The truth is these moral grifters are cold, calculating deceitful ghouls who promise everything and deliver nothing.

This putz, along with the rest of the RINOs wouldn't recognize the truth if it bit them on their fat butts.
