The US Army is far more heavily engaged around the world than projected when it began slashing force size several years ago, and its commitments will be hard to maintain in the long run as troop numbers shrink, General Ray Odierno said on Friday.
Odierno, the Army chief of staff, said decisions about cutting the size of the force from 570,000 to the current 490,000 were made several years ago when Pentagon planners expected a peaceful Europe, a declining commitment in Afghanistan and no return to Iraq.
Instead, he said, the Army is regularly using three brigades in eastern Europe because of concerns about Russia's support for rebels in Ukraine.

Of course it is. Obama uses the military for show. He’s a coward, and everything he does is for show. He doesn’t understand that if you parade the military symbolically in places like the Ukraine, you increase the chance you might have to use it. And if it came to that, he’d just think of them as pawns, anyway.
However, when it comes to using Alinsky tactics within the legal system, he’s a relentless, demented near-genius. Or maybe it’s Valerie. Look at this recently uncovered race-database-lawyer-resource monstrosity he’s creating to take advantage of “disparate impact.”
Bill Clinton, progressives and liberal Republicans (RINOS) did the same thing to America (the peace dividend) right up until 9/11 which took place 7 1/2 months after GWB took office.

How many are still posted in Europe? About time the Euro Trash take care of their own security. If they are stupid enough to make things easy for Iran, then let them deal with the mess that is being created.

It’s intentional on Obama’s part. Democrats have to put money where it matters... Baltimore’s inner city, prisons, jails, ‘programs’ to bust white neighborhoods... you know - the important stuff.
Oh - and money was needed to ‘negotiate’ with Iran... and Cuba... and to free the deserter... important stuff for democrats.
