NVERNESS, FL (WFLA) – Inverness-based Florida Gun Supply’s owner Andy Hallinan declared his store a “Muslim-free Zone,” in a politically controversial video posted on his business Facebook page. The post was met with a mix of support and strong criticism, particularly from the Council of American-Islamic Relations, which is calling for the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate federal civil rights violations.
In the video, Hallinan sits in front of a back-drop of a Confederate flag. He begins talking about Southern heritage.
“This flag represents nothing but the rich heritage of the South and the willingness of patriots to stand up against tyranny of all sorts,” Hallinan says.
He says there is more racism in the U.S. now than there was before the Obama administration got into office.
“Our leaders are telling you that the cross is a symbol of intolerance and hatred, bigotry and anti-homosexuality. Don’t believe their lies,” Hallinan says.
And then Hallinan says the country’s leaders are lying when they say Islam is a peaceful religion.

My in-laws live in Crystal River so I am familiar with Inverness. Very nice area. Hope it stays that way.
I received a private email from someone who was offended by my comment. Evidently, it’s up to Allah to decide on the punishment. Still, it’s bound to make them uncomfortable, so maybe we should give it a try and see what happens.
It got the owner on CNN this morning and Carol Costello showed herself to be an idiot, as usual.
Unfortunately they commit suicide by also taking out thousands of other people as well. Remember the 9/11 hijackers visiting the strip clubs.
I am sure a good lawyer can find a loophole. At this point I don’t think the DOJ would be wise to go after this man.
It is cut and dried religious discrimination. He doesn’t have a leg to stand on, as he is a public business. Even if it was a private club, you are on very thin ice.
This guy is toast, and if the other articles show him correctly standing in front a Confederate flag, he is going to flame out rather quickly.
The DOJ will move on him, for no other reason than he is being a huge public idiot.
We shall see. He has a lot of support. I don’t believe the DOJ will go after him.
Well, since supposedly all the ones who spent regular time int he strip clubs committed suicide, perhaps a better policy would be to note moose limbs who are in strip clubs and put the FBI on them and a citizen’s watch list registry. Sooner or later jihad johnnies will off themselves but try to take as many Americans with them as they can ...

Islam is not a religion, it’s a political system and a dangerous cult of death. They come here and use our anti-discrimination laws against us while being the most blatantly discriminating society on earth. We are going to rue the day we ever allowed any of them into this country.

Under the law, he is practicing religious discrimination in a public business. He has no legal leg to stand on. Islam is recognized as a religion. If a restaurant owner said they would not serve Jews, that owner would be done.

To be honest, I suggest his background be checked out. This is either an idiot, or a false flag.
He is continuing the perception that gun owners are red neck idiots. We need to work to convert the other side to our views, not reinforce the stereotypes. The rights of the 2nd Amendment have advanced so far recently because the old stereotypes of all gun owners being racist rednecks is slipping. There are many people going to gun ranges in say, Chicago, that are on the other side of the political aisle.
A man, standing in front of the Confederate flag, saying he will not serve muslims, is presenting that stereotype to the hilt. So much so, it makes me wonder if he is really who he says he is. The only way we retain and expand our rights is if those rights continue to become a non partisan issue.
The term “public business” is very misleading, to say the least. It’s a private business. I don’t believe “Congress shall make no law...” ever was intended to pertain to anything except the government. We’ll have to agree to disagree because you will never change my mind on this.
And that’s fine, but after the civil rights era, doing what this guy did is illegal. You can not refuse service to someone over race, creed, or color. That is the federal law, and has been since the 60’s.
He is not running a private club, he is running a business.
