“Yes, the true and worthy descendants of the traitors of January 29, 1861!”

You sound like you know a lot about history.

What were the names of those convicted of treason?

They had a rally in B’ham yesterday and one of the black speakers is dead today. Seems they were followed by a silver car and sped up and ran off the road.

Greatest failure of the Union was that the national government didn’t execute the Confederate leaders and generals for precisely treason once they had vanquished them. Do you deny that they were miserable traitors, more dedicated to the continuation and indeed expansion of human bondage than this nation?

If øbama finds some aversion in the flag, then there must be something very powerful in its modern meaning.

To me, that is DEFIANCE!

My secretary saw the procession since the office here overlooks Hwy 19 between Albany and Leesburg. Wish I'd been there to see it. I always find out about these things after they happen.

“Greatest failure of the Union was that the national government didn’t execute the Confederate leaders and generals for precisely treason once they had vanquished them.”

Execute? There were never any trials. . . meaning there were never any convictions.

In terms of human bondage, it is my understanding the Confederates were fighting to preserve the Confederate constitution which permited the peculiar institution.

And the federals were fighting to preserve the U. S. Constitution which permitted the peculiar institution.

Did you know both sides were fighting for constitutional governments that permitted human bondage?

Scroll down for why Georgia seceded. The other declarations make for interesting reading too.

http://www.ucs.louisiana.edu/~ras2777/amgov/secession.html

How about the constitutionalism of Alexander Stephens? You know who he was, don’t you. Speaking of the Constitution of the Confederacy he said:

“Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.”

2015 and a Freeper excuses treason and the gloification of slavery! WOW.

Yes.

Now, let me ask you again: Did you know both sides were fighting for constitutional governments that permitted human bondage?

If they were “miserable traitors” as you call them, why did every federal judge (all in the north) refuse to prosecute them? Secession was not illegal, as no mention of it is made in the Constitution. Matter of fact, the American Revolution could be considered an act of secession.

So, go soak your head.

I suppose you would also support blasting Plymouth Rock, and tearing down the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, Minute Man statues, etc.
