The summer Trump polling spurt has nonetheless been instructive in exposing a growing problem on the political right. All too many conservatives, including some magazine editors, have been willing to overlook his hucksterism as he’s risen in the polls. They pretend that he deserves respect because he’s giving voice to some deep disquiet or anger in the American electorate.
But America has rarely lacked for demagogues willing to exploit public discontents. William Jennings Bryan won three Democratic presidential nominations running against eastern elites. In 1948 Henry Wallace ran as a Soviet sympathizer while Strom Thurmond won 39 electoral votes running as a segregationist. Either one would have been a disaster as President.
As a standard-bearer for conservative ideas, Mr. Trump would likewise be a catastrophe. His only discernible principle is the promotion of his personal brand. His main message seems to be that because he’s rich and doesn’t care what anyone thinks, he can afford to tell everyone to go to hell. Some Americans may find it satisfying 16 months from Election Day to tell pollsters they’d vote for him, but that doesn’t mean conservative elites should validate this nonsense.

I appreciate TNMOUTH's enthusiasm for Ted Cruz, but he's a one dimensional knucklehead attacking FReepers who appreciate the usefullness Trump is providing right now to voters.
We don't need FR torn apart when we have someone exposing the left (and Rinos) for what they are.
It's classic disruptive trolling. He may actually be a true Cruz enthusiast! But the rest of us manage to do the same thing without pissing everyone off.

The Concern Troll is the UnderEnthusiasm Troll: "Gee, I really like Cruz, but I have a concern...."
This new model of Troll goes like this: "I like Cruz, and if you have the slightest deviation from what I say, LOL, you are a freakish IDIOT. You think you are so smart, so tell me the same answer to the same question I've asked ten times. You responded to my insults? Gah, you are a sensitive moron! LOL!"

When you make the claim, yes you should. Citing your evidence is standard procedure in any legitimate debate. To do otherwise is intellectually lazy and dishonest.
That said, how about some links to show their specific claim to support Trump over Cruz?

I have been looking, and I haven't seen it. And in light of your newfound reputation, it's much easier to believe you're lying through your teeth.
If Trump is so effective, NOTHING of substance has even been discussed (except by Cruz) in Congress...regarding immigration, etc. If Trump was serious about the fence, he should put his money where his mouth is and tell the President/Congress that HE will FUND the building of the fence himself...tomorrow. Put them in a bind.
First, that's not his call as a private citizen. Besides, he couldn't build a fence high enough to thwart the intentions of your friends who are doing everything they can to KEEP THE BORDER POROUS! Second, if immigration doesn't get fixed, as Ann Coulter has so recently shown in her new book "Adios America," nothing else matters.
Our country isn't being allowed to change the immigrants, the immigrants are changing our country.
I know there is a great hope that Trump will clear the way for Cruz...but, you assume Trump will just “bow out” and quit. I am told that isn’t his style.
I don't assume anything. I KNOW Trump is causing things that don't get discussed honestly to be pulled front and center in this campaign. And not just immigration: the entire nominating process.
Finally, if the Donald is a man who wants to win, do you not think that he will SAY, exactly what he has been saying to revamp support again...hurting Cruz et al in the process again?
