During a recent Republican presidential forum, Donald Trump disparaged Senator John McCain’s war record, claiming that McCain is “not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
And the Internet responded, surfacing a photo that some are calling the perfect comeback and reminder of McCain’s service to his country.

This whole McCain v Trump thing is being blown waaay out of proportion. I can’t stand McCain and Trump is not exactly my cup of tea either. We need to concentrate on electing a conservative potus and not get distracted by this garbage.

He immediately amended his remark. Three times.
McCain wasn’t much of a hero to Democrats and the media when he was running for president against Obama in 2008. He was a person that cheated on his wife and behaved in ‘questionable’ manner in Vietnam.
But now he is a hero. What happened? Was he fighting in Iraq for the past decade, saving Americans, and not telling us?
Or perhaps he is only a hero when the media deems him to be a hero?

There’s no question that involuntarily spending 5 years in a hell-hole is something to be strongly empathized with, but it neither makes you a hero not a statesman.
I feel bad for what he had to go through, I feel even worse for what he has put the country through.
Nevertheless, he did serve his country...and we assume, honorably....since they will not open all the records related to his imprisonment.
