Mitt Romney Piles On Trump For Savaging McCain, Trump Fires Back
TPM ^ | 7/18/15 | DAVID KURTZ

Posted on 07/18/2015 2:37:19 PM PDT by jimbo123

As a wave of Republican scorn washed over Donald Trump Saturday for questioning John McCain's status as a war hero, Mitt Romney joined in with praise for McCain and derision for Trump.

-snip-

Both men lost to Barack Obama, a fact Trump was quick to tout in returning fire toward Romney:

Donald J. Trump ‏@realDonaldTrump 49 minutes ago

Why would anybody listen to @MittRomney? He lost an election that should have easily been won against Obama. By the way,so did John McCain!

Hi JohnBrowdie,

I hope you are well, and will take my message with rational consideration.

Please tell me why McCain is a “decorated war hero” as you wrote?

Which of the following qualifies him?

1.
a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.
2.
a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal:
He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.
3.
the principal male character in a story, play, film, etc.
4.
Classical Mythology.
a being of godlike prowess and beneficence who often came to be honored as a divinity.
(in the Homeric period) a warrior-chieftain of special strength, courage, or ability. If you choose door one, what distinguished
(in later antiquity) an immortal being; demigod.
5.
hero sandwich.
6.
the bread or roll used in making a hero sandwich.

If you choose door one, please reveal his act(s) of distinguished courage or ability. I think Trump is correct - it doesn’t take courage to be captured. McCain clearly had no distinguished ability to fly aircraft. I appreciate McCain’s service, but he is no hero. So, please let me know what he has done that merits hero status?

BTW, I believe the word hero is overused, and lightly given in our society.

True heroes don’t criticize their fellow team mates. McCain is not a hero by any definition.

I frankly think Mitt “Threw” the election. Why did he back off when he had Obama on the ropes? Why did his structured campaign fall apart the night before the election? Why did he continue to be such a “good guy” when all he had to do was have a little fire in his belly? Things don’t add up. Somebody or Something got to him.

No, but GW Bush showed us what happens when you do not answer liberals who insult you. McCain started it and I fail to see any problem with Trump’s response. McCain disrespects anybody who doesn’t agree with him and calls even his fellow republican senators and constituents names all the time. It is time he got it back in kind.

you’re utterly missing — or perhaps intentionally obscuring — the point. it took courage to crawl into the cockpit of that aircraft, and fly it into combat.

period. end of statement.

How many times has that excuse been proffered? You have to donate $5,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee to get business done in New York?

When I had a small business in a major American city in a deeply blue state, I also registered Democrat and was invited to many fundraisers, where I paid small tributes and got access to the mayor and many of the powerbrokers, and landed contracts with very visible city agencies. I also sought out the Republican fundraisers and gave money there. In the privacy of the voting booth, I voted straight Republican. It's called rendering to Caesar. Go ahead, denounce it.

I notice how the media fails to report what Trump also said about McCain. Namely, that McCain called the 15,000 people who showed up to watch Trump at the Phoenix Convention Center a bunch of crazies.

Actually he called millions of Americans who support Trump, "Crazies".

Never forgot what these people have done to America and what they think of the American people.

It's the oldest trick in the book. Get everyone fighting each other...

Exactly, and if there isn't enough media orchestrated backstabbing inside the US, then go international, Gotta help Obama get rid of Mubarek, Gotta help Obama get rid of Quadaffi, Gotta help Obama get rid of Assad, Gotta help Obama get rid of Putin, Gotta help Obama get rid of Netanyahu...

The media's only view of Obama is his belt buckle.

I assume you read my #77, because you replied to it. but you obviously didn't understand it. cruz isn't being ignored, he's being drowned out by the MASSIVE static that hair-boy is generating.

That's the part you don't seem to understand: Cruz was being blacklisted BEFORE Trump created any buzz.

What Cruz coverage there was by the MSM was uniformly critical, looking for a chink to get the Republican base to make him into a Todd Akin.

Mr. Robinson, thank you so much for your Forum.
I have to laugh out loud everytime Trump slams another one of these loser hypocrites into the canvas.
Trump is killing them. He is like an arc light for lefist and RINO moths.
IMHO, he was dead right about McCain: he is a hero for being a POW.
That doesn’t really impress me either.

All these RINOs have had 10 times more to say about Trump in the past month than they've said about Obama in 6 years.

And they wonder why people like Trump?

So Trump had to donate $5,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (as Politico reported) to keep people from “plotting” against him? Really?

Are you aware that in Puritan New England, people were put into the stocks for not attending church services? Just a thought about people doing the small things it takes to get the big picture done. $5,000 to a multi-billion business operation is less than a percentage of a penny to an average American household.

the last time it was attempted; reagan.

Were you even there?

Now it's safe to admit Reagan was sophisticated, but at the time "amiable dunce" was the only message getting through the media gatekeepers.

America knew no more about Reagan's acumen than you do about media campaigns.

Stick with Cruz. Cruz all the way in 2016, as I believe that Trump is going to fizzle out. Any and all campaign donations, past positions on social issues, etcetera, will all come out on the debate stage.

I hope Trump fizzles out and Cruz emerges on top. While a lot of intellectuals are incoherent, leftwing a...holes (read without the ellipses), Cruz is not. Ted Cruz might be even more intellectually formidable than Newt Gingrich.

I do find Trump somewhat enbtertaining. If he has the LIB lefties angry (and their blood-brothers...the gop-e), it is making for a good show. The WDC crowd of morons needs someone to ridicule them. Goodness knows they have been unresponsive to those who elected them. I hope he keeps it up.

Say what you will about Trump, but McQueeg pulls no punches when it comes to ‘savaging’ TEA Party conservatives. Arizona voters need to kick him to the curb.
