LETTER: Something is behind Trump's self-destructive performance (Trump, Cruz & the Koch Brothers?)
The Saint Louis Post-Dispatch ^ | July 18, 2015 | Jeff Klayman

Posted on 07/18/2015 4:30:37 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Can Donald Trump merely be an undisciplined bomb thrower driven by a massive ego? Or is there more going on with Trump than most of us would suspect? Is he so ego-driven that he would abandon his prior liberal positions on social issues and link arms with those on the far right? Trump is not an idiot. He knows he can't win with his self-destructive performance. I think what he's doing is preparing a pathway for the person he wants to win, Ted Cruz.

It's a brilliant plan really. Trump's attacks bring down the moderate opposition for the Republican nomination while securing the party's base for Cruz, who already boasts proven bona fides with the right wing. By complimenting Trump, Cruz unobtrusively shares his viewpoints while playing the role of responsible statesman, someone who could be trusted as president. With the Republican right wing in his pocket, Cruz would be free to court those in the center of the party, as well as the national independents who will decide the outcome of the 2016 presidential election....

Okay, I’ll play. Who would you rather see as our foreign minister: John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright or Don Trump?

This is easy. Donald Trump. He wouldn’t back down, or concede, strengthening American diplomacy and putting us back on the “do not F$&#” with list.

Either Trump OR Cruz would beat the pantsuit off Clinton in a debate.

Trump would make an excellent Secretary of State.

They are climbing the walls trying to bring this guy down. It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of schemes they come up with. Like my brother says, nobody has ever really seen Trump in a bathing suit so they are probably going to exploit the hell out of that if they find one to try and disgust people.

At this point, I’m a Trump fan. His father was successful. He’s successful. I’m sure he realizes that only a free America, following the Constitution, made that possible. Obama has thrown the Constitution into the trash and we need to get back to those basics.

I want someone in the White House who has a proven track record of success. Winning is in his genes and that mindset will rub off on America. Even in his down times he has recovered and excelled.

BTW, has a statement been made by Ivanna or either of his two adult kids?

See, I have a confession to make. When people try to appear smarter than they are, it irks me. Here you think you have a great point. You dish it out with snark. The problem is, your point is absurd. Your analogy is a non-starter. When Trump has 25 years of conservative speeches, commentaries, etc behind him, then get back to me with the Reagan analogy. When Trump has been governor of a major state get back to me. Until then, you just embarrass yourself.

I doubt it. You think the Kenyan is vengeful? Trump would probably crush anyone who dissed him like that.

In my absolute honesty, I have reservations. Hell I have reservations about Cruz, and he’s my number 1. TPP on the first vote, and the dissembling on throwing away the treaty provisions of the Constitution.

I very, very much enjoy Trump’s anti-PC rhetoric. It fills me with glee as someone of the “protected class”, resembling Zimmerman, that abuses it themselves personally to stick it in the craw of hypersensitive jerks.

I absolutely hate unfair, hyprocritical ‘arguments’ or gotchas. Right and left.

The thing that worries me about Trump is his potential for spectacular self-destruction, whether planned or unplanned. His high profile is very much tied in with the media, and if the media make you they can break you.

“I very, very much enjoy Trump’s anti-PC rhetoric.”

I love it when he says that “so-and-so is a TERRIBLE person. TERRIBLE!” (And he’s usually right about that.)
