Obama Warns Congress Not to Stand in Way of Iran Deal
ABC News ^ | Jul 14, 2015 | JULIE PACE

President Barack Obama heralded a historic nuclear agreement with Iran Tuesday as an opportunity for the longtime foes to move in a "new direction," while sharply warning Congress that it would be irresponsible to block the accord.

"No deal means a greater chance of more war in the Middle East," Obama said in early morning remarks from the White House.

How did he keep it out of the category of treaty, of did he?

So I guess Mitch gave away any advise and consent authority?

“No deal means a greater chance of more war in the Middle East,”

I actually agree with the Dear Leader on this one. There is no deal that would mean a greater chance of more war in the Middle East.

There IS NO Iran deal; there is only an obscene piece of paper that testifies yet again to the extent to which America is now the Butt B*tch of the Middle East.

...a historic nuclear agreement with Iran Tuesday...

Oh, it'll be considered historic alright. Maybe even right up there with Chamberlain's accords.

...an opportunity for the longtime foes to move in a "new direction,"...

Really? Let's see, Iran: still trying to build a nuclear weapon; still interfering in Iraq; still calling for the destruction of Israel; still calling for our destruction BTW; still following a pattern of violating any and all agreements... Hmmm, call me short sighted (I am, I wear corrective lenses) but it doesn't seem like Iran has changed course (in strategic terms there bammy) since the fall of the Shah. If anything they have become even more belligerent in the past decade or two.

... while sharply warning Congress that it would be irresponsible to block the accord...

Or else the little narcissist dictator wanna-be will throw another temper tantrum. I love what another poster put up here: Il Douche. So fitting on so many levels.

This gives Trump another big issue. He’s mentioned before that Obama is a terrible negotiator. Let’s see if the public gets behind him on this like they did with illegal immigration. If so, it will put a lot of pressure on Congress to veto the agreement.

I still can’t get a grip on what the Congress can do with the agreement now that the Republicans have passed the Iranian bill for Obama. Let me see now, if the Republicans vote the agreement down, Obama vetoes it, and the agreement stands, unless his veto is overridden, which won’t happen. Can someone help me out?

60 days puts us smack in the middle of September - some believe there might be something “awkward” happening this September.

How times have changed. When Obama took office our best allies were the Israelis and the Brits, no longer thanks to the SOB, now our allies are the Iranians, Cuba and Isis. Impeach the thug!

We went through this crap in the 1990’s with the Clinton Administration and North Korea.

The worthless Secretary of State Madeline Albright and company “negotiated” with North Korea, a supposed deal was reached, and guess what, North Korea got the bomb anyway.

Snookered? Not a bit. Those two pieces of crap we have as leaders of the legislative bodies planned for this to be the way it goes. Ya see, now they say, gee, what can we do, he has 34 votes in his pocket. If only you had returned more GOPers to the Senate, we could have stopped him. Shame on you. Meanwhile, where is the next lobbyist supported shindig and I hope they are serving JW Blue label this time along with a bunch of money, er, political donations. The best outcome, Iran nukes DC when they are all there in session...start over from scratch and hopefully the follow on government is more in line with the wishes of the public and states than they are now.

“I still can’t get a grip on what the Congress can do with the agreement”

Zip. zero, nada, as Boehner and McConnell are nothing more than puppets with Obama pulling the strings.

“Oh, it’ll be considered historic alright. Maybe even right up there with Chamberlain’s accords.”

I think it will exceed the naivety of Chamberlain because we are so gullible as to think that in 15 years they won’t have (and use) a nuclear bomb.

I will guarantee that our gutless politicians will approve the “deal.”

Once again Øbama gives Congress the one-finger salute, and the impotent GOPe will continue to lock horns with the Conservative base.

I suspect that Iran already has the bomb. I suspect that this deal just assures us that Iran will not use the bomb until Obama is out of office.......then the next President can be blamed by Obama’s sycophant Media. Remember when Obama said ‘Iran will not get the bomb on my watch’? And when Harf said (paraphrased) ‘the Americans held in Iran have nothing to do with this deal’ (WHY NOT??) and ‘the ramp up in enrichment by Iran is meaningless.....they have until June 30 to come into compliance with the lower levels of enriched uranium’. This Admin is/was intent on selling us, and our few allies left, down the river. It is nearly Mission Accomplished, from where they stand.

And, before N Korea admitted the truth, Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty with N Korea. And shortly thereafter we find that N Korea did indeed have the bomb. Yet, the Nobel committee didn't request the prize or the money back.
