On these pages and elsewhere, commentators have periodically fed Western prejudices that Muslims are somehow inherently more violent than those of other faiths. They ignore the fact that, both historically and in recent decades, armed forces of the United States and European countries have killed far more Muslims than Muslims have killed Americans and Europeans. They also ignore the fact that virtually all the arms used in predominantly Muslim countries are manufactured in the United States and Europe and are transferred to the region by U.S. and European governments.
