Checking the box to get affirmative action.

I don’t rule out mental problems as well.

My great-great-grandmother was full-blooded Cherokee, and the lineage is well-documented. I never once in my life have cared to even try to call myself Cherokee. What is wrong with these people?

Simple enough. Let’s see her family tree.

Name, date of birth, of her native American qualifying ancestor.

What is the problem here?

She is Trans-Indian.

That is her chosen identity.

Anyone who objects is just a hater.

“We are the best experts of our own culture and we have the sovereign right to decide who our members are, just like any nation.”

Well that puts the Cherokee one up on the United States.

The Liberal Democrat Progressives say we are haters if we want to do that.

But Indians are a protected victim class so they are permitted to be exclusive.

GFor thoise who did not read the article:

Here are other names they call her, “pretendians” or members of the “Wannabe tribe or “playing Indian.”

“King also shared more details about the 2007 conversation in which she and Richard Allen, a Cherokee policy analyst, met with Smith to discuss her claims of Cherokee identity. During that conversation, Smith told King and Allen that her mother had told her that she was Cherokee. According to Cornsilk’s timetable, however, Smith would have already received confirmation that she was not Cherokee twice by that time.

“In the address, Russell described a “bizarre” conversation in which Smith claimed that she “thought” that she was Cherokee but could not name a single Cherokee ancestor when asked.”

Her 2005 book Conquest: Sexual Violence and American Indian Genocide

And it runs in the family, the Saint Paul School of Theology list her sister, Justine Smith as “a member of the Cherokee Nation” and refers to her “the first full-time Native American woman to serve in any full-time faculty position in theological education in North America.”

"Only in America can you be what you want to be!"

Isn't that a line from a song in "Westside Story"?

“It is my hope that more Indigenous peoples will answer the call to work for social justice without fear of being subjected to violent identity-policing,” she wrote.

Your honor, it is my hope that the this court will answer the call to work for justice without subjecting any of its defendants to identity-policing! I am not guilty, because I've decided to not be me anymore, but to be someone else for the rest of today, and your attempts to make me be me are unfair and unjust!!!

Haven’t we been told since childhood that we could be whatever we wanted to be?

It's very weird. self loathing of their own identity so much that they go out and assume something totally different ?

I don't get it at all.

Andrea Smith knew as a white professor she was a very small fish in a very large pond.

So she lied to steal advantage.

She’s a Democrat - and she’s backing Hillary. Someone ask...

You don’t have to join the army to “Be All That You Can Be.” This is the age of the flimflam. There is a long tradition of fake “Indians”; Iron Eyes Cody (Espera Oscar de Corate), Jamake Highwater (Jay Marks), Grey Owl (Archibald Belaney), Ward Churchill, Elizabeth Warren, and many more. Why should we be restrained by these antiquated Nuremberg Laws or holy books. This is the 21st century. There are numerous bogus “Reverends.” Don’t forget Rachel Dolezal. Smith has a doctorate in the History of Consciousness. Ph.D.s are now being handed out like popcorn to people who are barely literate. If someone has a Ph.D. in education you know you are dealing with a real scholar (Give them a second grade spelling test. You will be amazed.)

Last week, Barker wrote on her blog that she and “about a dozen Native feminist scholars” participated in a conference call with Smith back in 2008 to talk about her lack of Cherokee descent, which Smith had reportedly acknowledged to a colleague.

“When we all got on the conference call together, Smith refused to talk with the rest of us about it,” Barker wrote. “She got on the call, bursted into tears, said, ‘I can’t do this,’ and hung up.”

Smith I think has a desperate need to be a victim.

Kind of a Munchausen syndrome by proxy where a parent gets sympathetic attention by poisoning their child making them appear to have a terrible disease.

Smith and others like her get special attention and benefits of race politics by pretending to have the identity of a discriminated against minority.

Smith has built her own self-worth and identity upon being a member of this victim class. For her an emotional trauma to be told that she is not a member of this tribe. She is so invested in this fiction that she has built for herself that she feels justified in stealing the identity documents of a tribe member.

This kind of personality disorder is a product of our society’s focus of victimhood. I think that there a probably a great number of people in our society that have built these false identities for themselves. Some psychology doctoral student can probably write a major thesis on this phenomenon.

As opposed to Elizabeth Warren, who appears to be only a pure opportunist.

Every person I know that claims they are part Native American all say they are Cherokee. How come none of them claim to be Pueblo, Navajo, Apache, or Soux? It’s always Cherokee.
