Jade Helm 15, heavily scrutinized military exercise, to open without media access

Jade Helm 15, the controversial Special Operations exercise that spawned a wave of conspiracy theories about a government takeover, will open next week without any media allowed to observe it, a military spokesman said.

Embedded reporters won’t be permitted at any point during the exercise, in which military officials say that secretive Special Operations troops will maneuver through private and publicly owned land in several southern states. Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria, a spokesman for Army Special Operations Command, said his organization is considering allowing a small number of journalists to view selected portions of the exercise later this summer, but nothing is finalized.

“All requests from the media for interviews and coverage of U.S. Army Special Operations Command personnel, organizations and events are assessed for feasibility and granted when and where possible,” Lastoria said in a statement released Wednesday to The Washington Post. “We are dedicated to communicating with the public, while balancing that against the application of operations security and other factors.”

The exercise is scheduled for July 15 through September 15 and is expected to include more than 1,200 troops. Army Special Operations Command announced the exercise in March, saying its size and scope would set it apart from most training exercises. For months, some protesters have said Jade Helm is setting the stage for future martial law. Those fears have been mocked by comedians such as Jon Stewart and others, and the U.S. military has tried to reassure people about the exercise.

The Army says the size and scope of Jade Helm 15, a Special Operations exercise that begins in July, set it apart from other training exercises. Also setting it apart: The widespread conspiracy theories that the U.S. is preparing to hatch martial law.

If they maneuver through my private property, you will read about me in the papers the next day.

Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has Texas Rangers ready to keep tabs on these “secret” military operations in Texas. These military guys will be in and about regular citizens without the citizens knowing it, but the Rangers will know where they are and what they’re doing. We don’t “cotton” to federal soldiers roaming around Texas.

Defense of the homeland can at times be *on* the homeland. The border where this is taking place is already a point of invasion. You’re right, though. It bears close scrutiny. WI already violated rights in their pursuit of liberal aims.

You know I think this has more to do with the possibility of a confrontation with China, or Russia. Our guys have been pretty steadily practicing desert warfare since 2001.
The commanders prepare for every contingency.
If this were some nefarious plan, our commanders in the field know half of their forces would turn and take up arms against them. Hell maybe more than half, and maybe more than half of the commanders also.
They know the traitor in the WH better than we do.
Last I heard the Pentagon doesn’t like this President very well.

I can foresee unfortunate hunting accidents happening while they be skulking around in the wrong public/private land.

Oh yes, a Jewish semi-comedian in NYC is really an authority on what goes on in the southwest.

Hey, Leibowitz! Grab a backpack and head on off the road somewhere far from a town in Arizona. Let us see how you fare before dialing your iFag in panic.

I was wondering about that too....maneuvering through private land? Do they have the permission of the landowners?

What happens when a private citizen panics upon seeing armed men on his or her property, and opens fire? Do they soldiers shoot back?

Years ago, I had a chat with a retired Army guy who’d done special forces training in the late 1960s. At ‘graduation’ time....they had this exercise where a guy would be dumped off at some point with a map and told to transit by foot....through three states. There was the long-way and there was the short-way. If you took travels through private property and back-woods areas.....you’d cut off forty-percent of your walking. It simply made sense. And I doubt if they ever asked while they hiked through people’s private property.

“Special Operations troops will maneuver through private and publicly owned land “

Any armed persons moving on my land without my prior express written permission will more than likely be shot dead without warning.

Period.

There. I helped you. That issue was settled in 1865. Because American troops are still allowed on American soil, thank God.

Yes they do, which is why the whole thing is such a joke.

I’m no fan of Stewart’s but I’m not sure why his Judaism is such an issue for you. What a weird thing to attack him for.

Yeah, sure and it'll turn out that no feasibility will ever happen to grant the media any interviews. So just shut up and eat your peas.

You’d shoot an American military member acting on orders? No questions asked?
I don’t think they’re transiting through private land without permission for this drill, but the point remains.

Can armed Americans go tripping upon federal lands? Can armed Americans go waltzing across the White House lawn? Can armed Americans enter any federal installation or property, such as a post office? Your contention is one-sided, and that is the problem. Ever read a little law called Posse Comitatus?

Posse Comitatus Act
The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using its military personnel to act as domestic law enforcement personnel.

So what happens when the “American” military and its flag officers are utterly infiltrated with sodomite faggots, wife swapping sociopaths, and socialists?

Oh, just because they are OUR “military,” means we owe utter allegiance to them, and thus must trust whatever they “order” us to do ... Yes, tell that to the people of New Orleans ... And the American military could never do us harm - even if their CIC is a Marxist Muslim cocaine-snorting treasonous sodomite SOB ... A lying pig, who should be impeached for perfidy, malfeasance in office and treason, then frog marched in leg irons to face a “21-gun salute.”

Yeah, I trust our military leaders about as much as I trust any “just following orders” zombie clone in Obama’s “homeland” police state.
