'Sweetcakes' owner defiant in face of $135,000 fine
Washington Examiner ^ | 7-3-2015 | Barbara Boland

After getting hit with a financially-crushing $135,000 fine Thursday for their decision to not bake a cake for a lesbian wedding, the owner of the Oregon "Sweetcakes by Melissa" bakery has a dire warning for Americans.

"For years, we've heard same-sex marriage will not affect anybody," Aaron Klein said in an interview with The Blaze. "I'm here firsthand to tell everyone in America that it has already impacted people."

Aaron and his wife Melissa are required to immediately write a $135,000 check to the lesbian couple they refused to bake a wedding cake for, Rachel Cryer-Bowman and Laurel Bowman-Cryer, to compensate them for emotional damages.

Aaron Klein says that Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian's order requires the couple to use "personal property" rather than only business assets to pay the vast sum and that it "has the potential to financially ruin" the family of five. Avakian "knew that full well going into this," said Klein.

“Aaron Klein also issued his own warning for Avakian: “Unfortunately, he’s doing this with the wrong Christian, because I fight back.””

Sounds like a good motto for me. “I fight back.”

I wish it were unbelievable. In fact, people are DEFENDING this madness on the grounds that this Christian family is “intolerant” and therefore must be destroyed. That’s where we are as a country.

This Brad Avakian is as hardcore a communist as there is in America. He hates capitalism and Christians.

Pray America is waking

Should have been around $1,000 for a first time offense.

Making the order and enforcing it are two different things entirely.

There will be many rounds of legal machinations before any check is written.

Geez guys. Just do like the libs do when the courts do something like this. Ignore the order.(think al “just-us” sharpton) Oh crap. That only works for libs. Maybe they should whip our their white privilege card as a last resort. I’m gettin’ pretty intolerant of folks who are constantly intolerant of folks who ARE tolerant. Need to change the sign behind the counter to : “We have to serve anyone no matter what because the govt says we do.” Now that’s real freedom. Right?

I am not sure I understand how a state labor commissioner can
order people not to speak on an issue and also that they must use personal assets to pay a penalty. Is not that done by the courts.

Which SCOTUS did you have in mind? The one that rules America would order these people executed.

If they really have to pay the lesbos, they shouldn’t stroke a check. Better to have the amount delivered via truckload in the form of 13,500,000 pennies.

Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian deserved to be tarred, feathered and ridden out of town on a rail. Or be the guest of honor at a necktie party. Which would be more appropriate?

Yeah, they’ll be a huge help, won’t they?

I read somewhere that this Labor Commissioner is also the Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. If that is true, any story related to this should mention that fact.

$135,000. Isn't that pretty close to the annual gross receipts for a Mom and Pop bakery? Donald Trump should lend these people some lawyers to fight this. And the people of Oregon should be ashamed that they put this Commissioner guy into a position of authority and responsibility.
