We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

We're about at that point again. Our federal government no longer follows the constitution nor our founding principles. When the government becomes destructive to our liberty and no longer defends our God-given unalienable rights it is our right and duty per the Declaration above to alter or abolish it.

Now, I'm not proposing to abolish it, but it definitely needs to be altered by we the people.

When all three branches ignore the constitution we have a serious problem. The wimps in congress have proven over and over that they don’t have the will to fight and it’s now painfully obvious that the supremes are not willing to do their constitutional duty either.

Government has failed us. The congress is toothless. The courts have failed us. Election mandates are ignored.

So now what?

Well, luckily for us, the Founders foresaw this problem and gave we the people a constitutional tool to fight back. We the people through our sovereign state governments can elect to send delegates to an Article V convention to propose amendments to the constitution.

Also, luckily for us, as of the last election the Republicans control something like two-thirds of our state governments, so if we’re ever to succeed at something like this, now is the time to strike.

Article V is the constitutional reset button provided to we the people by our Founding Fathers. If you are not familiar with Article V, please read up about it on conventionofstates.com. This is not a scary constitutional convention to rewrite the entire constitution. It would be an effort led by the states to rein-in the runaway federal government and to reclaim and restore sovereign rights and powers to the states and the people. Definitely worth a try and definitely better than the final alternative.

Please take this seriously and read up on Article V at conventionofstates.com.

In the meantime, we need your continuing support to keep FR on the air.

"The night before the Fourth was once the focal point of celebrations, marked by raucous gatherings often incorporating bonfires as their centerpiece.
In New England, towns competed to build towering pyramids, assembled from hogsheads and barrels and casks. They were lit at nightfall, to usher in the celebration. The highest were in Salem, Massachusetts (on Gallows Hill, the famous site of the execution of 13 women and 6 men for witchcraft in 1692 during the Salem witch trials, where the tradition of bonfires in celebration had persisted), composed of as many as forty tiers of barrels; these are the tallest bonfires ever recorded.
The custom flourished in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and is still practiced in some New England towns."

62.9 million Total estimated number of hogs and pigs as of March 1, 2014. Chances are that the pork hot dogs and sausages consumed on the Fourth of July originated in Iowa.
The Hawkeye State was home to an estimated 19.8 million hogs and pigs. North Carolina (estimated at 8.0 million) and Minnesota (estimated at 7.8 million) were also homes to large numbers of pigs.
