Why The Donald is Trumping the GOP

By J. Johnson

In case anyone hasn’t noticed, the GOP is allowing itself to be taken down the same road it has gone down before in the last two presidential election cycles. This time, the second target is one Donald Trump (Rubio was first). But we have seen this before. But the question needs to be asked again: How are they getting away with it?

Let’s start with the obvious: The illegal immigration problem. Anyone thinking this is not a major issue in America hasn’t been watching the local news, or going outside the house too much. It has become self-evident that entire new cultures from other lands are being imported into this country. It would be understandable if done legally, there were plenty of job opportunities, and they were willing to assimilate with the rest of America. But it’s just the opposite, and everyone knows how it’s dragging down the entire American infrastructure.

And yes – the increase in criminal activity among foreign nationals can be tied directly to this problem. We can all see this. So how can the media and businesses decide to turn on an individual whose name alone sells newspapers and increases a profit margin? How can they get away with it?

The short answer is simple: Only a few running in the GOP is backing him.

The exception of course, is Ted Cruz. While Trump is taking the best strategy of not backing down (and to do so would be fatal to his campaign), his only support comes from a Latino – the group Trump allegedly offended. But where are the rest of them? Mind you, I have no faith whatsoever in the state-sponsored media. But perhaps it’s time for the conservative media to ask ALL the GOP candidates: Is there a problem with illegal immigration? Should we consider closing the borders? Is Mexico partly responsible? What should we do about it?

Of course, most do not want the same treatment Trump is getting now (they will later), so perhaps we should put it this way: If what Trump said is so offensive, how would you have addressed it differently?

As long as I’m at it, allow me to take a moment to address the Latino population who are here legally and/or ‘escaped’ your homelands for a better life in America: You know the reasons you left, and who was making life miserable there. Do you actually WANT those people to come here and continue spreading their misery to everyone else? After all, they can hide is plain sight be just blending into your communities. My guess is that if you’re escaping that so-called hell, you don’t want it following you here. It’s kinda like how decent, hard-working black folks don’t want to live in crime-ridden black communities. Go figure.

But according to the media, EVERY Latino wants EVERY Latino from south of the Rio Grande in America, sucking up all the benefits. Does that make any sense?

Answer: No, it doesn’t – and that’s the exact tone I get when talking to Latinos that I know. But I digress…

The fiasco against Trump can end overnight if/when the rest of the GOP field follows Ted Cruz’s lead: Make a public statement backing Trump’s position on illegal immigration. How about at least setting the media straight on what he DID say?

Or do we just wait for the next major terrorist strike from illegal trespassers inside to U.S. to put the argument to rest?

This is not to say that I agree with many other policies of Mr. Trump, or giving my endorsement. However, one must note the two candidates rising in popularity are those who have taken the “illegal immigration is a major problem” side of the issue, and not the “I believe in a path to legalization” side.

GOP candidates on the sidelines beware: Your time is coming when all the state-sponsored media will have their sights set on you, and like good GOP sheep, your ‘colleagues’ will be in a race to distance themselves from you. We’ve seen this pattern before. And we’ve seen the end result. Republican primary voters and contributors should learn from recent history. We see what the elite are doing. And any so-called GOP candidate who wishes to stay silent and/or take the ‘safe route’ is giving tacit approval to their own downfall.

I just wish one of the more serious candidates would start talking like Trump!

This is a fairly decent article.

The writer sees Trump for who he is and has been. Unlike so many folks though who do CNN, the WP, the DNC, and other Liberal enterprises bidding, this guy gets it just exactly right.

There is a problem, and if the GOP would only agree with Trump on these issues most of the nation agrees with Trump on, there would be no need for Trump.

So all the airheads to wet themselves over Trump, start expending your energy on getting the rest of the field to adopt his immigration and trade stances. That would be productive.

What is going on now isn’t.

I’ll damned if I’ll echo CNN, the WP, the DNC and others who reflexively trash anyone who dares stand up and tell it like it is on immigration.

There are some people on this forum who should be ashamed to have their pseudonym shown here after their actions of the last few weeks.

Grow up folks.

Politics is a contact sport. Get with the program you numbskulls.

I’d think that Trump’s appeal is much like Bernie Sanders. They have a record of political positions, are loudly outspoken and, most importantly, they cannot be tied to the elite in either party. Folks don’t want a Bush, Clinton, or anybody they perceive to be like them.

Exactly right!

I think Trump is seen as a braggadocio queen. Many folks don’t like him just because of his personality. I understand that and I think it’s a valid issue. I don’t choose to react to him that way. I sort of laugh at his antics.

Reality is, Trump is connecting with people. People are so desperate to see this nation righted, they’ll back almost anyone giving them a glimmer of hope.

And yet, our folks act like timid Nancys all too often.

They go about 80% of the way on immigration and wilt.

Damn it GOP wanna-bes, stand up and be counted with the rest of us. You know there’s a problem. Advocate for actually fixing it.

And none of the bull stuff about no amnesty but they can stay.

When you say that, you’re just confirming you lied from the start. You don’t care anymore than any of the other RINOs.

It’s simple.

1) He is saying what he really thinks without worrying about political correctness or being slammed by the media. The majority finds that quite refreshing.

2) He is willing to suffer personal financial losses (i.e. Univision, Macy’s, etc.) for the sake of staying true to his principles.

3) He is saying the things about immigration that the majority thinks, but no one else will say aloud.

4) He is willing to fight back when attacked (suing Univision, barring their execs from his golf course, etc.) which makes him the anti-Romney.

Who says Trump isn’t serious? He sounds real serious to me.

They did it to Palin (saying she was a stupid bimbo) now they are trying to do it to Trump—they will tar him with everything they can—Thats Why I support him. I recall a line from the soon to be forbidden “Gone with the Wind”; “Sometimes the lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for.” Lead us, Mogul Donald, to a new era of Freedom. Think, who do you want in power when the nukes start to fly? Only a few out there—Cruz, to be sure, maybe Walker, maybe Rubio? Not Christie, Bush III, Hillary, Sanders, Even Jindal (all good VP choices I would add).

The fact that main stream politicians think that illegal immigration s unassailable is frightening.

Trump is speaking the truth, and everyone knows it.

Better, he doubles down. Might be his ultimate downfall, but to many of us, it is about time someone said it.

The networks are all spinning that Trump disparaged “Mexican Immigrants” WRONG. He is disparaging “Illegal Mexican Immigrants”. Big difference; but you won’t hear the word “Illegal” anymore. Not PC.

His defense should be to point out that he is talking about the “Illegal” invaders; not the legal ones. The media is spinning his story without a challenge.

Combover boy has already stated that illegals who are working and "productive" should be allowed to stay.

- How this differs from, say, Rand Paul's position I can't tell.

- Obviously, the Trump empire likes cheap groundskeepers and busboys just as much as the rest of the CoC does.

For me, Trump is a breath of fresh air. I am sick of voting for Republicans only to be stabbed in the back by their lack of guts and leadership. I know Cruz would do right if he were to be elected but many running for the Republican nomination have huge question marks on them.

I wish Cruz had Trump’s cash and a healthy dose of his gumption.

Then we would have a champion! :-)

I like your post, but I would take it a lot further.

The gop knows how to fight. We have a speaker of the house who punishes representatives who vote in accordance with representing their district.

We have a majority senate leader who cheats in primaries, and had this to say on Jan 7.
“We’re in active discussion on TPA,” said McConnell, adding, “It’s an enormous grant of power, obviously, from a Republican Congress to a Democratic president, but that’s how much we believe in trade as an important part of America’s economy.”

I used to love Trey Gowdy, watching his takedown of the leftists, but what the heck happened. The R’s are investigating Benghazi, nothing. They are investigating the IRS, again nothing. How about Fast and furious, oh that’s right nothing. In the meanwhile, The D’s put Scooter Libby in jail, not for outing Valerie Plame, but I guess for not talking to them the right way. I saw Issa on tv complaining about how they couldn’t get certain irs agents before congress.

Even when the D’s are not in majority, they manage to get their agenda pushed through. When R’s tell us they need the majority in order to be effective, we end up with crap, and for me, that does also include the tpa vote.

I really do believe the sad truth is that they are both working together to get rid of tea party / Conservative types. Trump is neither of those 2 things, but I don’t believe he is being bought off.
