Why Is Donald Trump Polling So Well?
National Journal ^ | July 1st, 2015 | By Lauren Fox

July 1, 2015 Macy's is ditching him, NBC has let him go, and Univision refuses to broadcast his famed beauty pageant. But American voters are still entertaining the idea of President Donald Trump.

In a Republican presidential field rich with esteemed governors and senators, tough-talking businessman Trump has managed to rise in the polls to be a top-tier candidate even after he elicited controversy for his statements about Mexican immigrants during his campaign announcement.

A CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday showed Trump had 12 percent of the vote among Republicans and Republican-leaners, second only to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who earned 19 percent. A Quinnipiac poll, which was also out Wednesday, revealed Trump was also tied for second with Dr. Ben Carson among likely Republican caucus voters in Iowa. Carson and Trump each had 10 percent of the vote. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker led the pack with 18 percent.

But with so many qualified Republican presidential contenders out there, Trump's rise is not expected to last. Several pollsters consulted for the story say the recent bump may reflect the entrepreneur's high name ID more than it shows genuine voter support. And at a time when the Republican field is so fractured, with more than a dozen candidates in the race, Trump's low, double-digit poll numbers are enough to fling him toward the top. If he cannot expand his base, though, he's expected to fizzle out fast.

They are whistling past the graveyard.

Trump is in this to win it.

Even if he does not win, he will alter the political landscape for a generation.

Because people are sick and tired of watching the PC marms, racialists & other assorted whiners bully their way into control over their lives, and they crave someone - anyone - with the b*lls to fight back.

Probably because he is telling the unvarnished truth about this government. The rest are just “POLITICIANS” that wouldn’t say “SHIT” if they had a mouthful of it. The rest are afraid that what they say may turn off some voters. So, rather than telling the truth about this government, they “SKIRT” around issues they feel is too volatile.

Trump donated to Hillary for President.

That's all I need to know. He talks a game. Talk is cheap. Weak minded people may be fooled by the talk, but not me.

In my opinion, one reason he is polling well is because he refuses to back away from the positions that he takes. Once Univision, NBC, and Macy’s objected to his remarks on immigration, just about any other Republican would have backed down, apologized profusely, and begged for forgiveness (and of course, no amount of apology would have been deemed acceptable by the left.) Not Trump. Not only has he not backed down, he’s been hitting back. The rest of the Republican field could learn a lesson from this. I hope they do. Stand your ground, don’t back down.

I have doubts about Mr Trump but it is nice to see someone fight for a change. Hopefully his success may inspire others to grow a pair.

He’s willing to fight, is un-intimidated by media PeeCee fascists but he attracts media so he gets heard. Limp wristed GOPers should learn this.

Because he’s irritating all the “right” people. And he’s in that part of a campaign where you can just make bold declarative sentences and nobody bothers to ask how you’re actually going to do that. Basically at this point he’s Perot. Who didn’t really change the landscape, other than helping Clinton win.

Darren, that’s all I can think. Trump donated to Hilalry for President. He’s been donating to them for years. Who’s to say she has not hired him/ put him up to this as part of some dirty tricks? Or that he’s doing it on his own for reasons we don’t yet know? I like the loud-mouth part and hope he can model that to some of the lily-spined scardie-cats in DC, but I don’t trust him. He could just be a spoiler, aiming to take conservative votes off a mainstream Republican and give the vote to Hillary.

Voters are dumb. He is the new shiny penny. Everyone likes a fool. He is humorous and outrageous and people would not want to be friends with them, but they are hilarious from afar.

I’m not a Trump guy by any means, but the answer to his early success is extraordinarily simple.

People are sick to death of namby-pamby skittish PC CRAP! People are hungry, no starved, for someone who will strike hard against the gates of Liberal lies and deception without fear or regard.

And right now at least, Trump is that guy.

The Donald has pushed a couple of Hot Buttons, one of which is the undefended southern US border, and the other calling out the arrogance combined with a total lack of critical thinking by the Current Regime.
