Breaking: Bronze Star Marine to be denied marriage license in San Saba, County Texas
OutServe SLDN ^ | June 30, 2015 | Matt Thorn

Posted on 06/30/2015 4:37:02 PM PDT by bgill

Today, Jason White and his fiancé Jonathan Means are planning to obtain a marriage license from the San Saba County Clerk. However, the San Saba County Clerk Kim Wells has indicated that she will deny their application for a marriage license presumably based on Attorney General Ken Paxton’s nonbinding opinion that clerks may claim religious exemptions in performing marriages for same-sex couples. In a letter to Kim Wells, Matt Thorn Interim Executive Director for OutServe-SLDN stated “Under the United States Supreme Court decision Obergefell v. Hodges, in which all 50 U.S. states are now required to issue and recognize marriages to same-sex couples, this denial will be in direct violation of the United States Constitution and specifically the 14th amendment.”

Thorn added “We strongly request that you follow the ruling of the Supreme Court and issue Jason and Jonathan their marriage license. Furthermore, we will assist Jason and Jonathan in all recourse with San Saba County should there be a continual denial of their license….Jason has given this country his service, risked his life and took an oath to uphold our fundamental beliefs as a nation. He and his fiancé deserve the respect and dignity of being able to publicly pronounce their love to one another through marriage and should not be discriminated against because you are choosing to ignore the oath in which you took and the law.”

I was told that the county clerk herself and San Saba County was threatened with a law suit unless they complied. She was forced to issue the license and the "happy couple" were married.

This is outrageous. This was a concerted effort by a LGBTWHATEVER organization just like the bakeries and florists. Please, check with your local officials to see if they are being threaten, too.

Vets are only important to the left when they can somehow use their military status as a way to push their own perverted agenda.

Hero status doesn’t give you license to be a pervert.

That’s a fact.

A Bronze Star service/achievement is given as a good conduct award in wartime.

Without a V for valor it can be given for providing efficient support in the rear echelon.

One thing this underscores is that these folks play for keeps. In an early phase of the litigation which culminated in last Friday’s SCOTUS decision, a lesbian couple married in Canada moved to IA, in order to achieve minimal residency in order to file a divorce. Since IA did not allow gay marriage at that time, the trial courts reasoned that there was no gay divorce. Au contraire. They appealed it until they were successful in overturning IA’s gay marriage ban. The litigation strategy that the pro gay marriage forces backed was most impressive. And it got the job done for them. Something tells me that they are not going to give up - and this little matter is a perfect example of how they stage incidents that they know will get media attention. These folks are relentless.

The big mistake made by the anti-gay marriage folks was their failure to understand federalism, and thus to recognize that efforts to amend state Constitutions to prohibit gay marriage (as in Wisconsin in 2006) were waste of energy that should have been focused on amending the federal constitution. Too late now.

And, a bronze star may or may not have a “V” device. Makes a big difference.

Our county just issued a notice that they will no longer perform wedding ceremonies. They will issue licenses.

Im starting to think its time to just flat out refuse to play their game, Get everything you own put in a trust, find every legal loophole, and let the idiots sue all they want, you can laugh at them while they take NOTHING because you dont “own” anything.

If I had anything to do with the wedding business I would flatly refuse any gay anything. Let them sue, they wont get anything.
