Sen. Ted Cruz continued his line of attack Monday against Chief Justice John Roberts’ opinion upholding Obamacare subsidies, saying that he took off his umpire mask and “put on an Obama jersey” with the ruling.
In an appearance on “The Hugh Hewitt Show,” Cruz told the host that the two Obamacare rulings Roberts made will “go down as some of the most political decisions” in the history of the Supreme Court.
The comments come on the heels of Cruz telling Sean Hannity on Friday that the ruling, along with the ruling making same-sex marriage legal nationwide, marked “some of the darkest 24 hours in our nation’s history.” (RELATED: Ted Cruz On Supreme Court Rulings: ‘Some Of The Darkest 24 Hours In Our Nation’s History’)
“So, I believe the reason Chief Justice Roberts did that is that he was trying to preserve the independence of the court. He was trying to keep the court out of the political mess,” Cruz said. “But I think he was profoundly mistaken and I think the irony is both that decision and last week’s decision, which he basically did the same thing all over again, will go down as some of the most political decisions in the court’s history.”
"Sadly, John Roberts, in his confirmation hearing, he correctly analogized the role of a justice to that of an umpire calling balls and strikes,” Cruz told Hewitt. “Well he stopped serving as an umpire and he, instead, suited up and became a player on one of the teams and he put on an Obama jersey. And that is disappointing for an individual and a judge I respect so much to see him acting contrary to his judicial art.”
I am glad to see someone begin to challenge the corrupt SC.
Not so sure this is right, I think all he put on were the Obama knee pads.
