Gov. John Kasich on Gay Marriage: ‘The Court Has Ruled, and It’s Time to Move On’
Mediaite ^ | 06/29/2015 | by Josh Feldman

Lots of Republican candidates are really up in arms about the Supreme Court’s gay marriage ruling, and some are trying to fight back strongly against it. Mike Huckabee said states should outright reject it, while Ted Cruz proposed Supreme Court elections to push back against “judicial tyranny.”

But on Face the Nation today, likely GOP candidate and Ohio Governor John Kasich told John Dickerson, “I believe in traditional marriage, but the Supreme Court has ruled, it’s the law of the land, and we’ll abide by it.”

He implored people to just “take a deep breath,” and said there are plenty of other issues conservatives should be more focused on, like jobs, national defense, and “healing the division between races.”

Dickerson told him he sounds like he’s trying to avoid the question, but Kasich insisted, “I do believe in traditional marriage, but the court has ruled, and it’s time to move on.”

And, that observation by Gov Kasich is precisely why he should NOT be President. His unwillingness to confront and engage wrongheaded judicial activism, even at the Supreme Court, shows he is not strong enough to do right by the People of these United States.

“I believe in traditional marriage, but the Supreme Court has ruled, it’s the law of the land, and we’ll abide by it.”

Dred Scott and Plessy v. Ferguson were the law of land. Should we have abided by those, Governor?

Very disappointing.

Well, maybe this chicken-shit will dilute some of the RINO energy also pushing for Jeb! and Crispy-Crème so I suppose he has a useful function?

But a lily-livered capon like Kasich has no business being in any foxhole on our side in the fight for the survival of our country and Constitution. All he will do is wave the white flag at the first whiff of grapeshot.

Looks like Kasich lost his common Bible sense today.

No...the US Congress can pass legislation that negates this USSC ruling. It's simple. The Supremes ruled unconstitutionally. It's time to get busy...not time to give up and move on.

Well Governor in the 1800’s the Court upheld the laws od slavery. Are you suggesting that they should not have eventually changed? Yes the court rule against the States and the American people. But that can be changed also.......

Does anyone here really believe that, had the decision gone 5-4 the other way, that ANY Democrat politician would have said

“I believe in gay marriage, but the Supreme Court has ruled, it’s the law of the land, and we’ll abide by it.”

Kasich is a whiney, RINO squish just trying to get his 15 minutes of Presidential candidacy fame.

No thanks!

Hey John, are you stupid enough to think it all ends here and they are going to let you “move on.”

This is only the beginning you foolish man. Inductries and careers have been established promoting Homo Activism. Do you think those “Activists” are going to retire from their cushy no show jobs and close shop at their tax payer funded “institutions” and “Foundations.”

Sorry Johnny Boy you are a relic of the loser mentaility that got us to this point. You are functionally illiterate as to what the Culture Wars is all about.

And this is exactly right. This is no different from the rise of the Nazis. "Moving on" eventually means to a concentration camp.

Always a new “cause”, new “victims” and new enemies to defeat...they’re relentless.

They didnt move on when the state supreme courts and/or the people in their states, had ruled it to be illegal.

This is always the liberal plea once theyve browbeaten a win for their side.

Last time I check, the GOP mover from a third party to a majority party because it stood against the lunacy of Dred Scott v. Sandford and the Fugative Slave Act.

“It’s the law of the land”

And what about the law of the land yesterday, and 6000 years of yesterdays?

What an idiotic remark!

Any candidate that says anything like the Ohio guv, you can rightly suspect a closet homosexual like Denny Hastard.

Why do you think DOMA was never considered to be added as an Amendment.

This “issue” is huge. Are we going to allow a corrupt government to (re)define our values and morals? Move on? No way! The State is imposing it religious beliefs on us. Secular Humanism is a religion and the state was no authority to impose it on us.

I watched him closely as he said this on Fox. Another useless phony who we used to consider a good conservative. How many more? How many more?

No wonder the country has been going down hill for so long. I wish we had discovered this years ago but at least we are discovering the truth now. I pray to God that we will get out of this by the skin of our teeth.
