Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho, city officials have laid down the law to Christian pastors within their community, telling them bluntly via an ordinance that if they refuse to marry homosexuals, they will face jail time and fines.
The dictate comes on the heels of a legal battle with Donald and Evelyn Knapp, ordained ministers who own the Hitching Post wedding chapel in the city, but who oppose gay marriage, The Daily Caller reported.
A federal judge recently ruled that the state’s ban on gay marriage was unconstitutional, while the city of Coeur d‘Alene has an ordinance that prevents discrimination based on sexual preference.
The Supreme Court’s recent refusal to take on gay rights’ appeals from five states has opened the doors for same-sex marriages to go forth.
The Knapps were just asked by a gay couple to perform their wedding ceremony, The Daily Caller reported.
“On Friday, a same-sex couple asked to be married by the Knapps, and the Knapps politely declined,” The Daily Signal reported. “The Knapps now face a 180-day jail term and a $1,000 fine for each day they decline to celebrate the same-sex wedding.”(continued)

Fortunately this particular story, which occurred last year (see the date) had a positive ending, as the city realized their law did not indicate for-profit vs not-for-profit enterprises. “Hitching Post” is for-profit.
But... there will be challenges coming.. no doubt.
Seems to me that the City of Coeur d’Alene is trying to establish a religious practice where none existed before.
This might not hold water under the establishment clause of the U.S. Constitution. I’m surprised it hasn’t been challenged.
A true libertarian will say govt should not be in the business of marriage... It’s a religious thing. Get govt out of marriage license business.
These battles should be fought on freedom of speech, no freedom of religion grounds.

Refuse to pay any fine, go to jail. Then go on a hunger strike. Take a page from Gandhi. They will cave. Make sure there is lots of reporting on the hunger strike, but no violence.

There should be no doubt left in anyones mind that this drive led by the democrat in name only party and supported by GOPES (Government Over the People Elite Statists,some call RINOS) is a declared war on religious [particularly Christian) beliefs.
Enough of these perversions promoted by the left. Just because anyone can claim a gender preference. Unless their body parts change with it. As with discharges of eggs from a male body part, and sperm from a female body part, that validates such a claim . Otherwise that assertion should be dismissed as a mental disorder. and treated as such .
The same applies to this perverted idealization of marriage which destroys the concept of family . If Our Creator wanted mankind to procreate like animals wouldn’t God have willed the act be performed using the same method instead of intimacy facing each other ?

A DEMOCRAT apparently doesn’t believe there’s such a thing as the Ten Commandments or sin because everything that leaves their mouths is a lie.
But I have yet to hear a Republican candidate even suggest even in jest mention why “democrat” lying is part of their core belief ? Never mind the use of their positions promoting crony capitalism campaign contributers financing alternate energy plans spending billions which went belly up at our expense while leaving our infastructure was falling apart......
Why ? Because it isn’t being bi-partisan or lets not forget the other trap politically correct. Which they democrats and GOPES are turning into demand observance ie laws.
I have been saying for months that at this point Christians should refuse to get officially married in the eyes of the State.
Pastors should pay Social Security as a private contractor and renounce their state ordination papers. Churches should not do ANY weddings for ANYBODY on the premises. Then when the Homosexuals ask the Church can truthfully say “We do not perform marriages and are not licensed to do so.” Let the wedding Chapels in Las Vegas take up the slack for homosexuals that want a church wedding.
Christian couples should rent a Hotel Ballroom or other such venue if a private house is not available and have a religious service but should NOT register with the State or get a marriage license from the State. This would return marriage to place it was in about 1800 or so and completely short circuits the Homo agenda to force churches to accept their reprobate lifestyle.
Let the States do legal marriages however the State wants. Christians should defy the law and live together in a state of matrimony in the eyes of God but not in the eyes of the State.
They claimed it is about love, now we see it is about hate.
And so it begins. I see two outcomes: A) 1.4% of the population will browbeat the 98.6% until there is not a single person who dares dissent; or B) “it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another”.
I hope for B); but fully expect A).
Yep, they’re not even pretending anymore. The state is their fascist god.
