That it does. The Secessionists had the right of it as far as secession went. The only possible justification for the war was to end slavery, and yet Lincoln said he was willing to accept slavery to preserve the Union. If he meant that, than by waging war, he betrayed the foundations of this country, and if he didn’t, well, he was a politician.

Slavery did not have a damn thing to do with the War.

It was the passage of travel and goods down the Mississippi.
