The Biker Battle of Twin Peaks: What Was That All About?
Newsweek ^ | May 21, 2015 | Dana Goldstein

Posted on 06/22/2015 4:15:27 PM PDT by Prolixus

If you thought violent biker gangs were a relic of the Altamont era, the shootout at a Waco, Texas, restaurant on May 17 might have come as a shock.

A long-simmering beef between the Bandidos and Cossacks boiled over into gunfire. When police arrived at the scene, gang members shot at them too, leaving nine bikers dead, 18 people injured, and 170 suspects in police custody. Over 100 weapons have been confiscated.

The scale of this incident dwarfs a typical urban gang confrontation, says Harold Pollack, co-director of the University of Chicago Crime Lab and an expert on gangs and guns. We talked to Pollack about why biker gang violence typically gets so little attention. He believes the Waco incident confounds our expectations regarding the race and geographic location of people who perpetrate crime, causing us to see biker gangs as more of a “curiosity” than a threat.

In anticipation of, an expected Waco Police Department Facebook update to detail what they discovered prior to the events of May 17, 2015 that they know led to the shootings that occurred at Twin Peaks that day, this article from Newsweek is a good refresher as to how the events of May 17 were misrepresented in the MSM.

For example, A long-simmering beef between the Bandidos and Cossacks boiled over into gunfire. When police arrived at the scene, gang members shot at them too, is a direct quote from Newsweek but directly contradicts the Waco PD's own official press release that indicates that the Waco PD was at the scene of the shooting before the bikers arrived and long before any shooting began.

Though Newsweek doesn't have all the facts this one quote may be the most important fact of this event: Today, biker gangs still act as a sort of private militia that police can’t always control, patrolling festivals and other events. Why don’t we pay more attention to them?

This smells like spin in anticipation of trying to justify police misconduct.

Saying the police arrived later than when the police already said they’d arrived smells like someone is trying to create a narrative instead of simply reporting the facts.

The first three paragraphs are filled with lies, as you might expect from this writer and this magazine. I’m not going to bother going to the source to read any further. I’m sure the lies will just multiply.

And yes, this is obviously in accordance with the party line.

Big lies, little lies, they all seem to fly today. Arrived at the scene, baloney.

Anyhow the idea of bikers-as-militia would fascinate, with horror, those who are browned off at the thought of both.

It could BE, that like the brouhahas over Trayvon, Brown, and now Gray (Baltimore) the uproar is just part of some bigger political agitational push.

Newsweak is no longer a magazine, it exists strictly as a glorified blog.

Nevermind that the vast majority of the 170 suspects lacked criminal records.

Nevermind that there is zero mention of how many of the weapons confiscated, were legal to have and legal to carry.

Nevermind that the fighting -- in a busy crowded public venue in view of clearly marked police cars -- was something wholly and wildly out of character for authentically criminal bikers such as Hells Angels and Mongols, who go to great trouble to maintain a low profile publicly and in fact involve themselves in things like CoCI meetings in order to give themselves legitimacy in the public eye. A CoCI meeting would be the absolute LAST place authentic criminal bikers would plan to do this.

Nevermind that the vast majority of the "suspects" arrested were sitting on the patio or in the restaurant at the time of the fight, let alone that the vast majority had zip, zero, nada criminal record.

The police arrested people not due to probable cause that they were directly engaged in criminal activity, but because of insignia they may or may not have had on their clothing, said insignia absolutely LEGAL to wear, but presumed by police "biker gang experts" to openly express their regular participation in criminal activity.

Lawmen are supposed to catch criminals in the act of being criminals.

MILITARY are supposed to fight an enemy distinguished by emblems and insignia on their uniforms.

There were no lawman at Waco that day, only militarized "police" at a time and place where it just so happens they could arrest and destroy the financial, professional, and personal loves of nearly 200 probable patriots -- bikers of all types, from mom-and-pop clubs to even bad-ass dudes, are notoriously pro-American patriots and veterans.

I thought Newsweek went out of business. Too bad. Please spare us your BS Newsweek. When this is said and done, the police, not the bikers, are going to look like the bad guys.

This is the MSM version of events.

They’ve completely ignored the Waco PD’s admission that three of their officers fired 12 rounds from high powered assault rifles into a shopping center parking lot.

Even avowed statistics would take exception to the police shooting if it meant having to dive for cover while eating their Sunday brunch huevos rancheros.

Yeah, the beginnings of the article look like nonsense.

Another overreaction in Waco. I drove through there last year and thought how it looked like regular Texas. But I also thought, I don’t know that I’d ever want to live there, I was thinking back then.

And I’m not a biker. No offense to the decent citizens of Waco, of which I’m sure there are many.

This seems like another minor thing that got blown way out of proportion. Again.

Not a single report of any LEO with so much as a scratch, sprained ankle, or a bruise, amidst all that biker violence and mayhem!

Either the Waco Police are the absolute best LEOs in the nation, or ...a planned and coordinated ambush, under color of law was played out.

Waco has a history...

It’s possible that Team Jade Helm wanted bikers with guns put in jail before their ‘exercise’ starts.

My MY! Maybe you should choose to use just a bit of your time to investigating other information presented to you, rather than regurgitating what you have posted so many times previously. I can understand your previous posts; not however the same regurgitation while ignoring other information “spoon fed” to you for your thoughtful consideration.

If you look into the Cossacks, you find a grain of truth to the militia charge. The question is, so what? They weren’t involved in crime or designs on the government.

The Cossacks appear to have been patrolling the border and reporting illegals. And its gone on for a while. This in turn ticked off the Bandidos who trade in drugs brought across the border. Toes were stepped on.

Washington in general and Obama in particular don’t want the border sealed. They refuse to do it and they get ticked off when someone else does it.

I think this is what things were about. I think the BATF was invoved and supplied all the spy toys with the goal of showing criminal activity on the part of the Cossacks. I believe the undercover officers were to incite the Cossacks into instigating a fight with the Bandidos to discredit the club and justify a crackdown on the Cossacks instead of the gangs that run drugs.

It turned out like a lot of operations the BATF runs.

Confederation of Clubs and Independents -- learn about what/how they are here and know that their meetings are held all over the U.S. and have been for more than 20 years without a single violent incident, that CoCI members include not only average lone motorcycle enthusiasts who are affiliated with ZERO club, but a total "mish-mash" (direct quote) of every kind of biker club that exists in the U.S., from mom-and-pop charity riders to Veterans clubs to Christian riders, and that every CoCI meeting is open to anyone on a motorcycle and open to anyone interested in discussing legislation affecting motorcycle riders. The meetings are typically open-mic affairs.

Just exactly the kind of event where true bad-ass professional career criminal bikers would shoot it out mere moments after they'd ridden their Harleys past at least half a dozen clearly marked cop cars at the entrance of the parking lot. NOT.

” bikers of all types, from mom-and-pop clubs to even bad-ass dudes, are notoriously pro-American patriots and veterans. “

Because drug dealing, extortion, theft, prostitution, and rape are so pro pro-American and if simply a wanna-bee look-alike biker type nothing says quality like imitating a bad guy.

By your analogy cross dressing pervs like Jenner and flamers on Castro Street can also be good people, good Americans.

Sorry, actions say otherwise.

What is this "minor thing"? 177 arrested (115 with no criminal convictions? $1,000,000 bonds on each and every one? No charges excepts for a lame ass organized crime conspiracy charge? Identical pc affidavits for all 177? No videos? No autopsy reports?

What is the minor thing?
