THE POPE STEPS IN IT AGAIN
Powerline ^ | 21 Jun 15 | John Hindraker

Posted on 06/22/2015 4:52:49 AM PDT by xzins

Pope Francis is rapidly convincing me that he is not just a leftist, but a dope. Speaking to a group of young people in Turin, he departed from his script and launched into a rambling denunciation of, among others, arms manufacturers:

“It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn’t it?” he said to applause.

He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying “duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.”

We are a long way from “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.” Pope Francis then went on a tour of world history that included this gem:

“The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didn’t they bomb (the railway lines)?”

With what? Oh yeah, that would be bombs. Dropped out of bombers. Manufactured by…whom?

Pope Francis needs to pull out of his recent tailspin before he becomes an international laughingstock.

The Roman Catholic Church dwarfs any other church on the planet, and it makes the tiny US denominations look miniscule by comparison. They are hardly on life support.

EVERY US denomination, except for the Assemblies of God, is losing members according to the last report that I read.

Catholics, however, seem to maintain their US numbers, if for no other reason than because of their higher birth rate. Meanwhile other US churches are telling their faithful that it’s fine and dandy with them to discontinue raising families.

That would be consistent, wouldn’t it?

Hard to believe that Benedict stepped aside for this guy.

Not that hard to believe when you realize global fascists and communists are making their move.

All the institutions are to be compromised, including the Republican party and the Papacy.

Francis **ALWAYS** steps in it. Reliably.

Dare I say “infallibly”?

He's just a crazy, naive, run-of-the-mill lib. His world is filled with unicorns that eat rainbows and poop out butterflies.

(Strictly speaking, manufacturers like Beretta are corporations and don't attend any church, temple or mosque.)

Is there a reference to his full remarks? I haven’t been able to find it, only quotations from Al-Reuters and the MSM.

Unfortunately, the Cardinals were in too much of a hurry to be politically correct and elect someone from South America.

I have found the remarks at most every place in Turin, just not these.

They all appear to be at the same time, in some rant in Turin:

Keep in mind Obama’s visit to the Pope in March of last year. All of his climate change, gun control statements have been since timed with Obama’s pushes on these topics. Obama pushes gun control after Charleston and the pope makes his gun manufacturing statement at the time.
One has to wonder what sort of NSA eavesdropping information Obama and ValJar might have brought with them to that meeting. If they had Angela Merkel and other world leader cell phone info...no doubt they have the popes.

It is not just the Poope. Remember that the Pope is elected by the College of Cardinals. What does this say about them and the leadership of the Church as a whole. I see a serious schism in the making.

Have they ever ‘fired’ a pope. Since they have one already sitting around in Benedict, it would be a great time to have a ‘recall election’.

I posted elsewhere that I thought that the Pope is actually a bit senile and that not even he knows what he’s going to say when he opens his mouth. It just seems to be a scrambled rehash of the leftist sentiments of his youth, all mixed together and at the same time, all going in every direction.

I used to think he had a conscious plan to destroy the Church, but I think now that he is a confused old man, definitely being used by others who play on his old man’s vanity. He’s dangerous, of course, because interested observers in the press and politics seize on whatever part of his ramblings they like in order to use those phrases in advancing their cause. They’re using the prestige of prior, intelligent popes to support Francis’ irrational statements.

I remember reading discussions in Spanish language blogs about what the procedures would be if a pope was determined to be senile or incompetent for some cause related to that. I wondered about it at the time, but maybe they knew something (through Latin American gossip) that the rest of the world didn’t.

This illogical rant on his part would lend credence to the idea that he’s not thinking clearly.
