I'll tell you one idea they are floating today on CNN- "The suspect said something about 'taking back the country'".
They (the left) like the direction that the country has been taking (hard left). The progressive left wants to move FORWARD. The suspect (and socon whitey) wants to "take BACK the country."
Hence, conflict.
