Chinese hack of federal personnel files included security-clearance database
Washington Post ^ | June 12 2015 | Ellen Nakashima

Posted on 06/13/2015 6:27:32 AM PDT by McGruff

The Chinese breach of the Office of Personnel Management network was wider than first acknowledged, and officials said Friday that a database holding sensitive security clearance information on millions of federal employees and contractors also was compromised.

In an announcement, OPM said that investigators concluded this week with “a high degree of confidence” that the agency’s systems containing information related to the background investigations of “current, former and prospective” federal employees, and others for whom a background check was conducted, were breached.

Maybe they know where Obama was born.

One story is that the Russians got hair follicles when Barry visited and even know who 0’s father is also.

Eight years of liberals and we are not the best at anything anymore. We should be superior at all things tech.

Now I understand what Obama meant by “the most transparent administration ever”. And we all thought he was talking about letting us know what they were doing!

Entirely plausible

It’s not like Obama could secure his dna by having his entire family take a pass on the official dinner to dine in their hotel room

I’m glad this happen.

It couldn’t happen to nicer bunch of spies.

I’d like to ask the employees who had their personal information stolen...

How does it feel?

How does it feel to have some faceless agencies spying on everything you do, stealing your personal data, tracking your moves?

This is what the USGov has been doing to the US citizen (NSA, downloading call data from wireless carriers, hacking AP emails, using the IRS to attack conservative groups) for years under Obammie-the-Commie’s reign.

This kind of stuff used to be done by sneaking a tiny camera into secure areas.
Now, it can be done from the comfort and convenience of a Peking office building complete with a break room. And, the hackers probably were educated here.
The spy business just isnt what it used to be.

Taxpayers are paying high salaries to Fed Govt IT “workers”to provide security. Since they failed miserably, shouldn’t they be fired?

Hillary’s server got hacked, and that opened a way into the bowels of the secure state department servers (imho). All it would take is one of those, “I found this cool video” attachments sent from a spoof of Hillary’s email, and someone in state opens it, thinking it came from her thighness. Boom. Trojan implanted into state server. From there, it is child’s play for the kind of hackers the Chinese and Russians employ.

Actually, the whole thing would be child’s play for probably 1000+ hackers around the world. Guccifer was just screwing with them at their expense—and still has 30 gigabytes stashed in the cloud. He was not even malicious.

Guarantee the espionage guys were there too, only they planted stuff all over the fedguv servers. They’ve been there for years. Our entire fedgov secret server system has very likely been hacked. And every employee compromised—we already know that. This is not hyperbole. It is that bad. And Hillary’s ego did it.

Something needs fixed. Just what, we can’t see. If this is inside job, kicking everybody out would get rid of the mole all right, but what keeps moles out?
