Michigan Lawmakers Give Religious Adoption Agencies Freedom to Deny Gay Couples
Christian Post ^ | 06/12/2015 | Ray Nothstine

Bucking the trend of states that have caved on religious liberty due to fear of reprisals from gay activists, Michigan passed a law Thursday offering protections to religious adoption agencies from being forced to place children in the homes of same-sex couples.

The law had broad support in the Republican controlled legislature and was signed on Thursday by Governor Rick Snyder, a Republican.

Snyder has voiced opposition to a broader religious liberty bill statewide that mirrors the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act signed by former President Bill Clinton. RFRA protections, once non-controversial and bipartisan now face the ire of gay activists.

Some Catholic and evangelical adoption agencies in Illinois have already closed their doors instead of complying with state law that they claim violates their conscience.

The law requires that faith-based agencies give a list of adoption services that cater to same-sex couples if they can't help them do to conscience issues.

The ACLU says it will explore all options to challenge the legality of the new law based on "discrimination." Private and religious adoption agencies in Michigan are eligible for and some do receive state funds. Proponents of the bill say a diversity of adoption providers only increases the opportunity that children are adopted by a loving family.

Thank you Jesus for the right words in a law to help little innocent children have a chance at knowing a loving man and woman you naturally made!

I’m hearing prayers being lifted up that the scales may fall from the eyes of lawmakers on all levels so they may see that the right direction will be tough but you must be strong to defend God’s Word!....you MUST read and understand it vs. reading the rot in media!

Praise God from whom ALL BLESSINGS flow!

Of course this will be called “hate”. Can’t protect kids from homosexuals who only want “love”.

Funny how just telling certain people “no” is now hateful. I have been told no many times. Hey, when I was dating could I have accused my date of hate for saying no to me? Would it have worked?

Keywords— “Lombard” “Duke University” “adopted”…for more story on gay adoption…Lombard belonged to a community of academic “gay families” who were also instrumental in the Duke laX hoax. Also “Daughters of Japheth”—recent release of Robert Oscar Lopez, a 42 yr old raised by a same sex couple.

Catholic Adoption Agencies in MA, IL and CA, which had stellar records in providing permanent adoptive homes for hard-to-place and special-needs children were forced to close because they would not place kids with man/man and woman/woman couples.

Since Catholic and Evangelical agencies make up a hefty percent of successful adoption agencies nationwide, loss of these agencies would result in a disastrous shortfall of adoption opportunities for kids who need a mom and a dad.

Besides, I fear that if agencies are legally forced to offer babies to homosexual couples, you're going to have a hard time persuading girls with problem pregnancies to give birth and agree to their babies' adoption. Instead of facing the possibility that they'll be placed with a gay couple, they'll abort them instead. That's what I fear.

This will be struck down after the traitors on the US Supreme Court deem same-sex marriage a Constitutional right.

But let me ask, where is marriage mentioned in the US Constitution?

For that matter, where is abortion mentioned? What’s that you say? Nowhere? And they had to sneak abortion through the USSC under the guise of “privacy”? Isn’t that a bit of a stretch?

It sure is a stretch.

A stretch from a constitutionally controlled Republicanism all the way to judicial tyranny.

Your fear is not unfounded. By sister and brother in law were on the adoption waiting list for years before they got a call from a small Christian denomination agency which they had registered with.

A young girl was just 4 months from giving birth to a mix raced child conceived as a result of a one night stand. They got the call because it was a weekend or holiday or something and none of the bigger agencies she called answered their phone. The girl's only condition on the adoptive family was that the father be involved in the baby's life. My sis and BIL had been on the adoptive list for so long that, of course, they jumped at the opportunity. The agency asked the girl what her next step was going to be if they hadn't found a suitable family and she said abortion.

She knew in her heart that it was wrong but was in a desperate situation due to one night's bad judgement. Plus, of course, the first place she'd turned to gave her that recommendation. As the small agency told my sis, we can't tell you who it was, but there are two Ps in its name.

i have been called names and listed as a baby killer for the following....

the 10th amendment applies to abortion..

why?????

because 95% of the populatiom considers it a travesty upon human life...

if it was made a states rights issue, 90% of the states would immediately out law it..

this has been proven time and time again...

once again the constitution, AS WRITTEN, overrides the feds...

just sayin”...

"Bucking the trend of states that have caved on religious liberty due to fear of reprisals from gay activists, ..."

Since the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect so-called gay “rights,” the states that have caved on religious liberty have violated Section 1 of the 14th Amendment imo.

More specifically, pro-gay, PC interpretations of Section 1’s Equal Protections Clause by activist judges aside, Section 1 expressly prohibits the states from abridging constitutionally enumerated protections. And pro-gay activist states have unthinkingly wrongly abridged constitutionally enumerated protections, imo, by using state policies to protect constitutionally unprotected gay “rights” to trump 1st Amendment-protected religious expression.

Sin angers the Lord on general principle, but the sin of corrupting children is singled out for exceptionally severe judgment.

Read Matt. 18:6 and Luke 17:2 to see what He has to say about this abomination.
